WGA starforking with Veep’s win. I will be so glad it won’t pollute the next Emmy derby. Based on eligibility, either Michael’s Gambit or Dance Dance Resolution should’ve won the episodic comedy WGA. But in the rush to (mostly) blackball The Good Place from any award contention, they weren’t even nominated. Tearjerk city with the W&G episode.

Of course Feud: Bette and Joan lost Long-Form Original Writing to a random Lifetime movie-of-the-week. I cannot believe that seven people predicted it (as opposed to zero).

Can someone explain to me how the hell it won? I had it in last place!

Better Call Saul and BoJack Horseman winning is the best thing this awards season.

I’m not surprised Feud lost, since it’s been losing at every awards show, but I thought it would be Godless, not the f_cking Flint. Still, I had Feud at #1 and Flint at #3.

Why did you have Flint so high?

BoJack winning for “Time’s Arrow” made sense since it seemed like the most acclaimed episode the show has ever had (I still haven’t seen S4 so no spoilers PLEASE!) and the show won last year. I still think it will get snubbed for the Emmy, though Kristen Schaal getting nominated for Voice-Over Performance last year gives me some hope.

Does Olivia de Havilland have that much sway over the industry to deny Feud all of these prizes? Or maybe everyone is just tired of these highly stylized Ryan Murphy shows, which may portend poorly for this season’s seasons of American Horror Story and American Crime Story?

I haven’t touched that category for a month and back then, I think it was after the Critics’ Choice, I heard about Flint for the first time, and it kinda got into my head, so I put it at #3, because honestly, American Horror Story wasn’t winning and I’ve never heard about Manhunt, which led me to do a somewhat silly decision.

Those are the last nominations, so the tallies on the first page are now final.  I always sort shows by Emmy eligible/ineligible.  In last year’s tally for 2016 shows, only four nominated dramas or comedies were ineligible for the 2017 Emmys (because their guild-nominated seasons competed at the 2016 Emmys and they were not returning in time if ever).  This year, we have a staggering twenty dramas or comedies that are ineligible.  This seems to me to be an effect of the peak television era.  The networks are finally starting to cancel shows or at least put them on extended hiatuses.

I feel like Stranger Things is on a downturn, but it is actually up a guild from last year and Game of Thrones is down two, so Stranger Things is actually our guild leader.  (Game of Thrones still leads total nominations because it picks up so many for visual effects.)  The Crown has doubled its guilds, supporting the theory that it came out a bit too late last year.  This is Us has only three guilds, compared to five for OzarkBig Little Lies variably had the easier limited series categories, but The Handmaid’s Tale still got more guilds.

Fargo was only one guild short of Big Little Lies.  Seems like it was just SAG that moved on from the show.  As for Emmy-eligible limited series, nothing got more than four guilds, so that race is wide open.  The comedy race is close too.  Transparent collapsed. Grace and Frankie is looking good.

The Americans seems like a logical seventh place for drama series, but Ozark could easily take its place.
