It’s my favorite time of the year when we find out what San Diego Comic Con (which will stay put at the SD Convention Center until 2021, I heard yesterday) will bring us. All panels, as usual, will be mostly in Ballroom 20, Room 6A or the San Diego Bayfront Hilton unless otherwise noted, and all times are Pacific Daylight. Count on more of a Hall H presence, too, as the movie pickings will be again pretty slim, from advance word:

Warner Brothers TV Group Presents Sneak Peek Screenings with cast and crew TBA (6-10 p.m., Ballroom 20)

Deception: From Chuck co-creator Chris Fedak, the Blindspot creative team of Martin Gero, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter, Emmy®-winning director David Nutter and renowned magician/puzzle creator David Kwong, Deception is a thrilling crime drama that combines FBI counter-espionage with the mysterious world of magic and misdirection. When his career is ruined by scandal, superstar magician Cameron Black (Jack Cutmore-Scott) has only one place to turn to practice his art of deception, illusion and influence — the FBI. Using every trick in the book and inventing new ones, he will help the government catch the world’s most elusive criminals while staging the biggest illusions of his career. Deception stars Jack Cutmore-Scott, Ilfenesh Hadera, Lenora Crichlow, Amaury Nolasco, Justin Chon, Laila Robins and Vinnie Jones.

Krypton: Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton follows Superman’s grandfather (Cameron Cuffe) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. Based on DC characters, Krypton is from Warner Horizon Scripted Television and is executive produced by David S. Goyer through his Phantom Four banner, along with Damian Kindler and Cameron Welsh.

Black Lightning: Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) is a man wrestling with a secret. As the father of two daughters and principal of a charter high school that also serves as a safe haven for young people in a neighborhood overrun by gang violence, he is a hero to his community. Nine years ago, Pierce was a hero of a different sort. Gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, he used those powers to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning. However, after too many nights with his life on the line, and seeing the effects of the damage and loss that his alter ego was inflicting on his family, he left his Super Hero days behind and settled into being a principal and a dad. Choosing to help his city without using his superpowers, he watched his daughters Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain) grow into strong young women, even though his marriage to their mother, Lynn (Christine Adams), suffered. Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he thought. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, and those he cares about in the crosshairs of the menacing local gang The One Hundred, Black Lightning returns — to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community.

Teen Titans Go!: The Teen Titans are back at it again, in Teen Titans Go!, with all new comedic adventures both in and out of Titans Tower, and we’ll have you covered by screening a brand-new, hour-long episode.

Major boo/hiss: NBC. You promote just **Midnight, Texas** when you’ve got the revival of Must-See TV (Superstore, Good Place, Good News, Will/Grace) on the outside looking in. To say nothing of your flagship series, This is Us no-showing? No panels for any of these shows? WHY?

ABC, too; just promoting season 7 of OUAT, a show that should’ve begone 2 seasons ago? CBS, with just Big Bang and Salvation?

    Missed opportunities, folks.

Well, This is Us and those shows aren’t necessarily typical comic con fare so it makes sense they weren’t there. The real missed opportunity for NBC (owns USA) was to exclude all Mr. Robot especially when the show has been rapidly falling off everyone’s radars.
