Ceremony takes place in late January, but please start sharing your final predictions and use this thread to tell everyone when you decide to change your mind.
Many of these are extremely tricky. Biggest lock for me is Courtney B. Vance, except I could even see him losing. Will change my mind almost on a daily basis, for sure.

I would have said The Crown would steal a good portion of Downton’s votes from that demo but I’m not so sure if it has broken to zeitgeist like others have so I’m skeptical. All of these shows have their drawbacks but Stranger Things might be the one that appeal to everyone(as weird as it sounds) it’s been out since summer, has the potential to play well with the younger/hippi demo because of its genre elements/young cast and a little bit olders because of its 80’s/nostalgia feeling. Plus it’s very hard and rare to get two ind. noms in the same category on drama side especially if one of them is for an unknown child.
The best thing is that all of them are actual ensembles to the point that it is hard to identify who is the real lead in them, so we’ll get a deserving winner nonetheless. Good job voters. No more Homeland’s and HoC’s please.

Betty didn’t win until the next year after her life achievement but I wouldn’t be surprised if she won. Unlike James garner, he didn’t have a chance with the notebook but lily has been nominated for other big awards for grace and Frankie.

The fact that they are the only big award show so far to nominate her for this show despite them being the only big award show with so few slots is also telling. If only SAG were voting I would have been more certain about Tomlin’s odds.
I concur that if she gives a truly memorable speech at the ceremony(she definitely has the potential!) she might be a bigger threat in 2018.
