I was hoping for The President Show, but the sketch category is a solid list.
SNL puts up another dominant lineup of nominees.
And I am very happy that Trevor Noah finally made the cut!July 12, 2018 at 10:18 am #1202584287
People like Marc Maron, Sean Hayes, Rita Moreno, Yvonne Orji or Marin Hinkle should demand Emmys to bring back Outstanding Individual Performance in Variety Series. It has become an absolute mockery what’s going on with acting categories on comedy side!July 12, 2018 at 10:32 am #1202584327
Conan deserved to be in that line-up more than half of its nominees.July 12, 2018 at 10:52 am #1202584355
Trevor Noah over Bill Maher is a disgrace.July 12, 2018 at 11:20 am #1202584385

Nathan For You should have been nominated. It’s one of the 5 best shows on televisionJuly 12, 2018 at 11:47 am #1202584417
I just hate the word islamophobic. Just hate it.July 12, 2018 at 11:51 am #1202584430
Thrilled At Home with Amy Sedaris snatched a nomination.
If only SNL wasn’t obviously (and unjustly) going to win.July 12, 2018 at 1:30 pm #1202584642
Happy for Amy Sedaris. I suppose that the Emmys dropping Bill Maher now is in line with them often being a year behind on stuff. See also F. Murray Abraham and Adina Porter. Saturday Night Live dominated like it was 2017. What the hell happened to Portlandia? It returned to directing for the first time in four years, but it missed production design for the first time in five. Its only nominations are directing and series! Directing was supposed to be three sketch and two talk, but it ended up being two sketch and four talk. Is there going to be fallout from the Emmys not imposing their own proportional rules? It allowed James Corden to rebound in directing. John Oliver getting sound mixing again is hilarious.July 12, 2018 at 1:40 pm #1202584661

Even though I’m not with you regarding the word “Islamophobic” I agree with you wholeheartedly about this. I mean it does make sense to find a way to reward performers of variety/sketch shows and there’s historically not enough of them to have a category of their own, but I did not imagine so many underserved nominations/wins that would occur by adding them to Comedy Series categories. I mean what makes this generation of SNL so good? It’s trash compared to past generations (when it wasn’t eligible for those categories) and consistency wise, it’s never been on the level of MadTV or even In Living Color except for the highest Tina Fey years. I really think SNL is only riding on their political sketches and Weekend Update because everything else is truly stupid.July 12, 2018 at 2:47 pm #1202584750
Shocked that “Real Time with Bill Maher” is outta there with its standout season. Yay for Samantha Bee, I guess? Nice to see a woman finally here. Don’t think Trevor Noah needed to be included yet. “SNL” will easily repeat unless there is parting sentiment for “Portlandia.”
