Dowd will repeat easily as long as the show does not get triple-nominated. Less sure about Moss because of Tatiana Maslany, but the trend toward obvious winners this year has me tentatively favouring the former. As for the show itself, I predict a Homeland crash-and-burn.
I was about to state that The Handmaids Tale is already the new Homeland. Female led acclaimed drama that shocks by winning over a show we know the industry loves despite missing key nominations. All it needs now is to loose quality.
Just like Homeland, it is dour in tone and I was baffled by the continued acclaim because I thought that it really went downhill over the course of the first season, but everyone eventually got on my level.
I too sensed that Homeland was gonna crack. Still, despite some sketchiness in the second half, season one remains one of my favorite seasons of any drama. Those last two episodes are about as great of a one-two punch as you get. And like THT I wasn’t nearly surprised by Homeland’s near sweep as some others.
I’ve only seen the first four episodes of THT, but I could easily see it running out of gas quickly. It’s story, like Homeland’s first season, feels more built for a high-stakes miniseries. They’ll have to move the show in a different direction and move on from its initial hook.
Why isn’t Kathryn Hahn eligible?
I am completely convinced that Black-ish will finally get nominated for Writing next year now that Veep won’t be taking up 2 slots.
Agreed, I can also see Grace and Frankie getting in since it’s been increasing its nomination total year.
I have not seen the new season of “Transparent”. Is she not still in the show?
