    SMILF?????

    Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehee……

Okay, so I haven’t seen SMILF yet, so I’m not going to criticize the show since I could end up loving it just as easily as I could end up hating it… However, with that said I do think it is fair to say that I highly doubt even Frankie Shaw (the creator and star of the show) herself remembers SMILF exists.

Frankie Shaw- “There’s a show called SMILF? I’ve never heard of it, is it supposed to be good? Is it a comedy, a drama, or- Wait, I was in this thing? I- I created this show?! I forgot it existed! Was I good in it?” LMFAO!!! 😛

For your Goldderby Film Awards consideration: Isle of Dogs for every category, especially Music Score for Alexandre Desplat!

New series is so scarce that the two time globe nominee, SMILF, could easily get a new series nomination. It also helps that there was quit a decent amount of press about the shows back half. I saw so many glowing articles on the finale that I expect a very good metacritic score for the second season. I could honestly imagine it getting nominated this year at TCA, but I won’t predict it.

Also, Riley, our designated factbook, do we know anything about the rules being different than last year? I know they were trying something new, which I hope they don’t do since the last nominations were so bad. They literally snubbed the two most acclaimed series of the year from drama, Rectify and The Leftovers.

Riley, our designated factbook, do we know anything about the rules being different than last year? I know they were trying something new, which I hope they don’t do since the last nominations were so bad. They literally snubbed the two most acclaimed series of the year from drama, Rectify and The Leftovers.

Each voter got four votes per category for the first time.  They got three the year before that and only two all years before that.  The Leftovers is the kind of show where you either loved it or did not watch it.  The vote-two system leveled the playing field for such shows.  TCA ballots are unweighted too.

Say that you have four critics.  The Leftovers is the favourite drama of three of them and Stranger Things is the fourth-favourite drama of all of them.  Stranger Things would get the nomination because it was on one more ballot, even though if you polled them which they would rather see nominated, three would have said The Leftovers and only one would have said Stranger Things.

In theory, it is the age of peak television, so voting two or four should not really make a difference in a field of hundreds of shows, but it clearly did, given that The Leftovers went on to dominate the critics’ year-end top-ten lists.  That sucks.  My guess is that they stick with this because I think that the critics found it absurd/offensive that they got ballots with so few slots per category when there are so many shows out there (that they watch).

These seem pretty accurate. I think Moore is getting in too.

Also, I think this will be the show where everyone puts Claire Foy as the consensus Best Actress pick, especially after being cruelly underpaid to Matt Smith.
