I don’t think Game of Thrones will have more than writing nominee – if I recall currectly they never submit the Bryan Cogman or Dave Hill episodes, just one D&D episode… I think

FYC: Lena Headey ("Game of Thrones") for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, Miguel Sapochnik (“Game of Thrones”) for Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series

Ozark is on an industry upswing, but Ozark did get two directing nominations last year as well, and was still snubbed for Laura Linny (despite her SAG nomination).

That’s because directors vote for directing and actors vote for acting. Last year, most actors voters at SAG watched Ozark and GLOW in comparison to the actors that vote on Emmys (we all know that some actors vote in both), or at least, most of them watched it. But this year, the entire industry seems to have watched Ozark, there will be no stopping it in my opinion.

The ones that have watched Ozark, is Peter Mullan actually good? Does he have a big role? Is there any others male supporting actors that may pop-up?

Peter Mullan is fine, but not doing anything special. I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if he made it in just due to lack of contenders, but I personally don’t think he will. None of the other supporting actors from the show are that impressive, and if anyone’s getting in from that show, it’s Mullan. But don’t count him out, I guess? He could definitely coattail.

Have not seen the second season of Ozark myself, but I have been spoiled a little about it, so spoiler alert for it and other shows: Peter Mullan fits the mould of past nominees Ron Cephas Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Josh Charles, Jonathan Banks, Bobby Cannavale, Jared Harris and Giancarlo Esposito if you catch my drift. Drama supporting actor is the category that has this trend.

Mullan is already a previous nominee too, for Top of the Lake which should have won Moss her first Emmy

I also thought Mullan was quite good for whatever that is worth *shrug*

I think he’s more viable than any of the Succession or Homecoming men.

Is it possible Dinklage could lose Best Supporting Actor this year? I feel like we’re underestimating Michael Kelly, it’s his last season and I feel like Netflix will campaign hard here and in Best Actress by using the “farewell Emmy” campaigning method. Also which are Netflix going to campaign the hardest for as their main nominee seeming The Crown is out? Bodyguard? Ozark? Dare I even say House of Cards? Could we see Bodyguard, Ozark and HOC get nominated for Best Actress, Ozark and HOC in supporting and Bodyguard and Ozark in Drama?

    My updated predictions.

    BEST ACTRESS

    1. Sandra Oh – Killing Eve
    2. Robin Wright – House of Cards
    3. Laura Linney – Ozark
    4. Julia Roberts – Homecoming
    5. Christine Baranski – The Good Fight
    6. Jodie Comer – Killing Eve

Alt : Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard), Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder), Taraji P Henson (Empire)

    BEST ACTOR

    1. Jason Bateman – Ozark
    2. Richard Madden – Bodyguard
    3. Bob Odenkirk – Better Call Saul
    4. Sterling K Brown – This is Us
    5. Milo Ventimiglia – This is Us
    6. Billy Porter – Pose

Alt : Brian Cox, Kit Harrington, Liev Schreiber

    BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS

    1. Lena Heady – Game of Thrones
    2. Julia Garner – Ozark
    3. Maisie Williams – Game of Thrones
    4. Rhea Seehorn – Better Call Saul
    5. Fiona Shaw – Killing Eve
    6. Chrissy Metz – This is Us

I’d love for nothing more than Dinklage to lose because he’s overrated, but I don’t think Kelly will get that many votes outside of nominations. His storyline was heavily criticized this season and was said in a lot of the positive reviews to have dragged the story down (which is true imo). Wright is really going to be the center of the campaign (as she was universally praised) and I think Nikolaj is the only one able to take Dinklage down but even that’s iffy.

    I don’t watch Ozark.
A question: is Laura Linney deserving of a lead Emmy nomination for season 2 or she’s in everyone prediction just beacuse she’s Laura Linney and the field is so weak this year?

She’s pretty deserving in my opinion. She was much more of a lead in the second season than the first, too.

I was actually pretty surprised she missed last year. I would bet she was sixth.

I just finished Homecoming; am I the only one who didn’t love it? I actually had many problems with it that I don’t even feel like addressing ATM. I really wanted to love this and was prepared to do so, but something about the style really turned me off. Don’t get me wrong, it has many, many strengths, but they’re dragged down by the show’s flaws IMO. Roberts was good but didn’t (IMO) have enough to do to be a strong frontrunner in Best Actress. The supporting men were just fine; I don’t think Whigham or Cannavale deserve nods. Spacek definitely doesn’t deserve a nod for doing pretty much nothing.

Stephan James was amazing. I’d be happy if he got a nod. Very sad that Jean-Baptiste probably won’t be eligible for Guest Actress because of that damn phone call. She would have been a very deserving nominee. So does that leave Hong Chau? She was fine but not Emmy-worthy.

I think this had the same problem that Mr. Robot S2 had: Esmail tries to be so stylish that the story gets lost in the process. I don’t see him getting a directing nod, especially since he couldn’t get one for the exceptional Mr. Robot pilot.

This is by no means a bad or lackluster show, I just wasn’t as impressed by it as I had anticipated. Something about it just left me cold.

Emmy voters must bend the knee to Lena Headey & Emilia Clarke for "Game of Thrones." It's their last chance to award them. Make it happen.
