Well, I didn’t necessarily mean she deserves to return. She could return as filler in such a weak year. I personally stopped watching after S2 ’cause the show became another “doing as many more seasons possible to earn money and stay employed” Shonda Rhimes show, and I do agree she gives the same performance over and over again.

Same, if the show was going to be doing the same thing over again every season, I was like, what’s the point of even watching it anymore? I left as soon as 2 started and I’m glad because 5 seasons of that is ridiculous.

Don’t you think that Bob Odenkirk will be nominated?

Oh wow, you’re totally right! Whoops, he totally slipped my mind. Subbing out Harington for Odenkirk now.

LEADING DRAMA ACTOR Jason Bateman – Ozark (WINNER)

Lol, he is not winning for his nothing performance, despite the Golden Globe repeat filler nom and the name-check win at SAG.

I don’t even know how people are making their predictions yet, to be honest. We don’t know when Handmaid’s is coming out yet, Game of Thrones could go anywhere with its category placements for its actors. I am very interested in this season though even though it may (and probably will) end up being boring.

I think Ozark and Killing Eve are going to get much more love than they did last year, everything has lined up perfectly for them. Big question marks are Pose and Homecoming, both of which didn’t take off as much during awards season as many expected.

Game of Thrones way have like 25 bids this year, but I fear it may struggle with winning because of vote splitting. The directing category is going to be tough; Sapochnik’s episode is said to be a masterpiece (of course), but if the series finale is a crowning achievement, I could easily see David & Dan stealing votes from him. I totally expect more than one supporting actress nod this year again, which will kill Headey’s chances of winning that damn overdue statuette. I am curious to see if some characters die early on, making the actors eligible in the guest categories.

Talking about guest, I just love those categories because you can go out on big limbs when predicting them. Cicely Tyson should win her overdue trophy for Murder, but she may not even get nominated. Handmaid’s has dominated guest actress for the past two years; is Elizabeth Reaser next?

If Ron Cephas Jones is nominated for Guest Actor, I will riot.

The exclusion of The Haunting of Hill House thus far is baffling and irritating, in my opinion. It was arguably one of the best acted, crafted, and written shows of 2018 and it’s getting zero love. Curious to see if Netflix puts it in Drama or Limited. They need to mount a brilliant campaign for this one. People were singing praises for Flanagan’s direction for “Two Storms.”

Thankfully, limited series is going to be very strong this year, unlike last year. True Detective, Sharp Objects, Escape at Dannemora, Fosse/ Verdon, A Very English Scandal, maybe Little Drummer Girl, Catch 22 – just so much.

I am ready for Oscar season to be over and Emmy season to commence. The predictions center opened early March last year, we’re not that far away anymore.

Emmys 2019 FYC: Lena Headey ("Game of Thrones"), Cicely Tyson ("HTGAWM"), Viola Davis ("HTGAWM"), Richard Madden ("Bodyguard"), "Bodyguard," "The Haunting of Hill House" & "Escape at Dannemora" in all categories

Wow, I’ve never thought of it but you’re totally right and it could definetely shake up some placements.
I can imagine Cercei not making it to the end. If she dies before episode 4 Headey will be eligible for guest category.

I know an Emmy is an Emmy, but Lena deserves to be honored on the main telecast. It would be a shame if after so many years of stellar work, she only gets a Guest Actress Emmy.

She needs to be in not more than 2 episodes to be guest eligible and I highly doubt Cersei dies this early.

Agreed. I don’t think she’ll be killed off the early though.

Now I am really getting excited about this Emmy season if I think about it:

The best male performance I have seen this season – and I haven’t seen Bodyguard yet – is Penn Badgley from YOU (next to Milo). YOU isn’t that great of a show (I loved it but that doesn’t make it good), but he exceptional. Talk about a layered performance. I will be stanning hard for him even though a nod is pretty much beyond the realm of possibility.

It would be great if both Madden and Headey won.
