Yesterday, the World Science Fiction Society (an unincorporated literary society which sponsors the annual World Science Fiction Convention to be held in Dublin this August, and the Hugo Awards) announced their lone category of TV nominees for Best Dramatic Presentation/Short Form.

    They are:

The Expanse: “Abaddon’s Gate,” written by Daniel Abraham, Ty Franck and Naren Shankar, directed by Simon Cellan Jones

Doctor Who: “Demons of the Punjab,” written by Vinay Patel, directed by Jamie Childs and “Rosa,” written by Malorie Blackman and Chris Chibnall, directed by Mark Tonderai

Dirty Computer, written by Janelle Monáe, directed by Andrew Donoho and Chuck Lightning (music video)

The Good Place: “Janet(s),” written by Josh Siegal & Dylan Morgan, directed by Morgan Sackett and “Jeremy Bearimy,” written by Megan Amram, directed by Trent O’Donnell.

    Wow!

Thanks, Entertainment Weekly: “Avengers: Infinity War”, “The Good Place” among 2019 Hugo Award finalists: https://ew.com/awards/2019/04/02/avengers-infinity-war-the-good-place-among-2019-hugo-award-finalists/

On the television side, known as the Short-form Dramatic Presentation category, episodes of The Expanse, Doctor Who, and The Good Place received nominations, alongside a nod for the companion video for Janelle Monae’s album Dirty Computer. Both Doctor Who and The Good Place scored two nominations each, and The Good Place notably earned attention for both its midseason and season finales, including the remarkable “Janet(s)” episode in which D’Arcy Carden played a dizzying number of versions of the title character.

It’s a hard one! Is it really just a battle between Doctor Who and The Good Place again?

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).
