I agree with your logic by starting this thread. Next year is going to be a bloodbath though. Even if Killing Eve sweeps BAFTA this year, it will be hard to get in next year…

FYC Emmys 2019 : Phoebe Waller–Bridge ("Fleabag") for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, Sandra Oh ("Killing Eve") for Best Actress in a Drama Series, Michael Sheen ("The Good Fight") for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, Keeley Hawes ("Bodyguard") for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, "Maniac", "The Good Fight" and "Killing Eve" in all eligible categories.

I think it’s safe in Series and Lead Actress for Comer. Oh will probably miss next year, Bodnia won’t be elegible, Shaw could get in though

I disagree with your point about Drama Series, it doesn’t seem so safe. However, Comer is safe. Look at the lineup for 2020:

    Best Drama Series

    • Baptiste (BBC One) (don’t think this one has more of a chance then Killing Eve, it wasn’t as good or received. It is a competitor however. Expect in contention for Best Drama Series, Supporting Actor (Tom Hollander), Supporting Actress (Jessica Raine))
    • Gentlemen Jack (BBC One) (it has Suranne Jones in it and is written by Sally Wainwright! Expect in contention for Best Actress (Suranne Jones), Best Supporting Actress (Sophie Rundle).)
    • His Dark Materials (BBC One) (remember when Doctor Who launched in 2005? This will be like then. Expect it in contention for Best Actress (Dafne Keen), Supporting Actress (x2) (Ruth Wilson and Anne Marie Duff), Supporting Actor (x2) (James McAvoy and Lin-Manuel Miranda), and Drama Series)
    • Liar (ITV) (ITV’s biggest drama since Broadchurch. Expect in contention for Best Drama Series, Best Actress (Joanne Froggat) and Best Supporting Actor (Ioann Gruffyd).)
    • Line of Duty (BBC One) (2 x drama series nominee, biggest season expected this year, never missed getting nominated at all at the BAFTAs apart from missing Drama for third season ever, expect in contention for Best Drama Series, Best Actor (x2) (Stephen Graham and Adrian Dunbar), Best Supporting Actress (Vicky McClure)).
    • Luther (BBC One) (the biggest season of a BBC Drama this year so far, event television, expect in contention for Best Actor (Idris Elba), Best Actress (Ruth Wilson), Best Supporting Actress (x2) (Hermione Norris and Wunmi Mosaku), Best Supporting Actor (x2) (Enzo Cilenti and Paul McGann))
    • Peaky Blinders (BBC One) (because it’s Peaky Blinders. 2x nominee, 2018 winner. Expect in contention for Best Drama Series, Best Actor (Cillian Murphy), Best Supporting Actor (Sam Claflin),Best Supporting Actress (Helen McRory).
    • Years and Years (BBC One) (Emma Thompson, Jessica Hynes, Anne Reid, Rory Kinnear, Russell Tovey, Georgina Campbell, Russell T Davies, relevant to the political climate of 2019, need I say more? Expect it in contention for Best Drama Series (or mini series), Best Actress (Emma Thompson, a lock), Best Supporting Actor (Rory Kinnear), Best Supporting Actress (x2) (Jessica Hynes and Anne Reid).)

Remember, BAFTA does not seem to like The Crown as much as it should. Only Vanessa Kirby has won at the main ceremony, once.

    Here is my updated predictions.

BEST DRAMA SERIES (they would should make it like the Emmys and expand to 7 nominees here)
    1. Years and Years (BBC One)
    2. Luther (BBC One)
    3. The Crown (Netflix)
    4. Line of Duty (BBC One)
    5. Peaky Blinders (BBC One)
    6. Killing Eve (BBC One)
    7. His Dark Materials (BBC One)
    8. Liar (ITV)

I’m pretty confident to say that Olivia Colman will get 3 acting nominations next year. For The Crown, Les Miserables and Fleabag.

I know that other than Kirby The Crown didn’t win anything, but I have a strong feeling that Colman will Win. Although she has A good shot at winning for Les Miserables as well

I think Best Actress next year is between Coleman and Thompson. Even though both performances are bound to be popular state-side. I mean it’s Olivia Colman! It’s Emma Thompson! There’s no way BAFTA snubs them in favour of Joanne Froggat (Liar), Suranne Jones (Gentleman Jack), Jodie Comer (Killign Eve), Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) or Ruth Wilson (Luther).

But I don’t think Helena Bonham Carter is winning Supporting Actress, this might finally be Ruth Wilson’s year for either Luther or His Dark Materials.

    Something worth noticing:

Benedict Cumberbatch is in the race for “Brexit”. He has been nominated 8 times and hasn’t won (unless he wins for Patrick Melrose this year).

Ruth Wilson has two stand out performances, Alice Morgan in Luther and Mrs Coulter in HDM. She has been nominated three times without a win (unless she wins for Mrs Wilson this year but that would be cheating).

Olivia Colman, 4 time BAFTA winner, has three perfomances that are locks.

    Aunty in Flebag
Queen E II in The Crown
    Madame Thernardier in Les Miserables

The following Best Drama Series nominees are in the mix:

    • Line of Duty
    • The Crown
    • Peaky Blinders
    • Killing Eve
    • Save Me
    • The End of the F***ing World (possibly)
    • The Durrells (watch out. It’s the show’s final season and if Keeley Hawes doesn’t win this year, she could win as a producer here)
    • Baptiste (spin off of nominee, The Missing)
    • Years and Years (from BAFTA nominee, Russell T Davies)

FYC Emmys 2019 : Phoebe Waller–Bridge ("Fleabag") for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, Sandra Oh ("Killing Eve") for Best Actress in a Drama Series, Michael Sheen ("The Good Fight") for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, Keeley Hawes ("Bodyguard") for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, "Maniac", "The Good Fight" and "Killing Eve" in all eligible categories.
