On Graham Norton Show last night, he congratulated Keeley Hawes on her 3 BAFTA Nominations. I know she got 2 acting, did he make a mistake or has she got a craft nom as well?

FYC Oscars- Little Women, Saoirse Ronan, Joaquin Phoenix, Scarlett Johansson/Florence Pugh

FYC EMMYS- Schitts Creek, Dead to Me/ THE MORNING SHOW, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Gugu Mbatha Raw, Killing Eve

@gabarnes43 Not as far as I know. She has two.

But see she also is overdue (4 BAFTAs if you count a  producer nomination for The Durrells). So she has three chances at a BAFTA nomination next year. Here they are, ranked from most likely to likely.

    1. Best Supporting Actress, Traitors
    2. Best Drama Series, The Durrells
    3. Best Actress, The Durrells

FYC BAFTA : Florence Pugh, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Greta Gerwig, Renée & Joaquin
FYC Oscar ; Renée Zellweger, Joaquin Phoenix & Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
FYC GD : Florence Pugh in all Categories, Wild Rose (Best Song)
FYC BAFTA TV : Olivia Colman, Killing Eve, Russell Tovey, Years and Years
FYC Emmys : Jodie Comer, Olivia Colman, Ruth Wilson

How the 2020 race stands if we are only basing it on shows that have aired so far (I have included Killing Eve based on its critical acclaim for its second season which began airing across the pond on Sunday).

    DRAMA SERIES
    Killing Eve (BBC One)
    Line of Duty (BBC One)
    Luther (BBC One)
    The Victim (BBC One)

Alt : Cleaning Up (ITV), The Durrells (ITV), Baptiste (BBC One)

Asa Butterfield – Sex Education (Netflix)
Rob Delaney – Catastrophe (Channel 4)
Andrew Scott – Fleabag (BBC One + BBC Three)

Alt : Dylan Llewyn (Derry Girls), David Bradley (After Life), Paul Kaye (After Life)

    FEMALE COMEDY PERFORMANCE
Phoebe Waller–Bridge – Fleabag (BBC Three + BBC One)
Gillian Anderson – Sex Education (Netflix) (it’s really between these two both if all the nominees were hypothetically from the first four months of the year (which they certainly will not be with the arrival of TC, KE, tToCK, PB, Y&Y, HDM, TM and more) and at the end of the year. Anderson’s never won a BAFTA, this is Fleabag’s final season, we’ll see who wins but I think these two are locks for nominations)
Olivia Colman – Fleabag (BBC One + BBC Three)
Sharon Hogan – Catastrophe (Channel 4)

Alt : Saoirse Monica–Jackson (Derry Girls), Ashley Jensen (After Life), Penelope Wilton (After Life), Diane Morgan (After Life), Kristen Scott Thomas (Fleabag), Fiona Shaw (Fleabag), Sian Clifford (Fleabag)

Alt : Tom Hollander (Baptiste), Adeel Akhtar (Les Mis), Johnny Flynn (Les Mis), Henry–Lloyd Hughes (Les Mis), Josh O’Connor (Les Mis), Martin Compston (Line of Duty), Adrian Dunbar (Line of Duty), Enzo Cilenti (Luther), John Hannah (The Victim), Charles Dance (The Widow)

INTERNATIONAL (Leaving Neverland is British co-produced so is not eligible)
    Pose (BBC Two)
    Deutschland 86 (More4)
    The Good Fight (More4)
    True Detective (Sky Atlantic)

Alt : The Good Place (Netflix), The Big Bang Theory (E4)

This is just a hypothetical scenario and not my predictions. Although ironically enough most of the nominees included are in my predictions atm.

FYC Oscar ; Renée Zellweger, Joaquin Phoenix & Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Just watched the final episode of The Victim. Kelly Macdonald deserves to win the BAFTA next year, but it’s a shame she’ll miss out to Thompson, Colman, Wilson and Comer. However I see her as a stronger chance than McClure.

Is Colman a lock for 3 nominations?

I currently have her winning for Les Miserables

FYC Oscars- Little Women, Saoirse Ronan, Joaquin Phoenix, Scarlett Johansson/Florence Pugh

FYC EMMYS- Schitts Creek, Dead to Me/ THE MORNING SHOW, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Gugu Mbatha Raw, Killing Eve

The Crown is always going to be a lock for nominations at the BAFTA, there’s no doubt about that. So Colman is a lock there. I think Les Mis will do better at the BAFTAs than at the Emmys but it depends whether Collins is also submitted in Supporting Actress. If Collins is in Supporting, I see her pushing out Colman and potentially winning because no Les Mis actress in Lead will get in. West and Oyulewo will get in.

Colman in Fleabag is a complicated one. At the time, there was not so rife a competition. However, the only actresses who seem loxked for Comedy Performanc at the moment are Waller Bridge and potentially Anderson for SE. Colman will have to face opposition from the ensembles of Fleabag, After Life (which has Ashley Jensen and Penelope Wilton) Sex Education and Sharon Hogan. I think Colman would easily get in over any of the Derry Girls ensemble.

Quick note here. Many expected War and Peace (AD’s other lavish drama with an excellent ensemble, to score multiple actimg nods for Dano, James and Middleton).

I don’t know who will win Supportimg because we haven’t had Killing Eve, The Crown, TtoCK, Good Omens, His Dark Materials, N&C and Liar to say the least yet. I am currently betting on Keeley Hawes for a critically acclaimed performance in a panned drama.

FYC BAFTA : Florence Pugh, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Greta Gerwig, Renée & Joaquin
FYC Oscar ; Renée Zellweger, Joaquin Phoenix & Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
FYC GD : Florence Pugh in all Categories, Wild Rose (Best Song)
FYC BAFTA TV : Olivia Colman, Killing Eve, Russell Tovey, Years and Years
FYC Emmys : Jodie Comer, Olivia Colman, Ruth Wilson

I have recently watched The Victim and thought Kelly MacDonald was very good in it. Hopefully she will receive a nod next year.

I will also be rooting for Aflred Enoch and Lily Collins. I watched the first episode of Trust Me, which is currently airing on BBC One, and Enoch’s performance is shaping up to be very strong. I did not think he had that in him, same for Collins who was great in Les Miserables.

We will have some interesting contenders next year, although they will probably be overtaken by the big 3 – The Crown, Line of Duty and Killing Eve.

Traitors was so boring in parts not even Keeley Hawes or Michael Stuhlbarg could save it. Also some of the final episode was just ridiculous. A character crawling up stairs with a broken back or whatever it was. Come on. I desperately wanted to like the show because I liked many of the actors in it. I know obviously some people liked it, but I barely made it through the first two episodes.

Admittedly Keeley’s character Priscilla was the most interesting part of the show, but that was probably Keeley’s talent coming through. That’s the only way I can see her nominated for Traitors. I’m more curious about how Summer of Rockets does. Maybe a nomination will come from it. I know the director/creator is hit or miss.

Yeah Traitors was gobshite. Only Hawes was the thing of interest in the whole programme and that’s mainly because of Hawes writing. The writing for Traitors is very miss and stupid.

Looking at the Years & Years trailer, Russell Tovey is a leading performance, and Emma Thompson is a clear supporting role.
