I can definitely see Jane Lynch getting nominated, but I’m pretty certain that Alex Borstein and Marin Hinkle will get more votes than her. They have much bigger roles and more acclaimed performances, especially Borstein. I don’t think her two consecutive wins will hurt her, as it’s clear that actors love the show, and there doesn’t seem to be any other contender who’s gotten as much praise as her. I understand why some people think McKinnon will win again, since were moving into an election year, but I don’t think that’ll be enough this time. This season hasn’t been very well received so far, and her work isn’t attracting anywhere near the same level of passion right now as it did back when she won.

I also think you’re completely underestimating Eddie Murphy in Guest Actor. His episode was clearly the most talked about and best received part of this season so far, and I think he’s far more likely to win that Harrelson. As long as we’re talking about Harrelson, are we sure that he’s gonna continue to appear on the show? Last time Biden appeared, it was Jason  Sudeikis playing him. Anyway, I’ll predict Eddie Murphy to win, but if there’s a lot of SNL actors nominated in the category, I could see Luke Kirby benefiting from a vote split and taking home another trophy.

The Handmaid’s Tale is winning at least one of those guest categories. Alexis Bledel is coming – and my God, does she deserve it.

Oscar FYC - Lupita Nyong'o & Elisabeth Moss ("Us") - Best Actress & Supporting Actress. It must happen; otherwise the Tethered are coming.

Speaking of coming for an Emmy, Megan Amram penned the best written episode of TV so far this season. Nothing else comes close to Patty, the next to last episode of The Good Place last night. Peak TV redefined. It was that God almighty good

HBC is definitely not winning the Emmy, the buzz has dried.

HBC is definitely not winning the Emmy, the buzz has dried.

FYI every time a Supporting Actress has been nominated at SAG in the past decade, they’ve been a lock for a nomination, if not the win. The only times in which a Supporting Actress has been nominated at SAG but lost the Emmy are:

2013 (Maggie Smith loses to Anna Gunn)
2015 (Maggie Smith loses to Uzo Aduba)
2017 (Millie Bobby Brown and Thandie Newton both lose to Ann Dowd)
2018 (Millie Bobby Brown loses to Thandie Newton)

In the cases of 2013, 2017 and 2018, Gunn, Dowd and Newton were ineligible for SAG and had not been seen. In the case of 2015, Aduba won the equivalent Comedy SAG but OITNB had a category change that year.

Helena Bonham Carter is the frontrunner at the moment and the only way she loses is if Newton is undeniable (which is possible although we haven’t seen WWIII yet), Better Call Saul ‘Fleabag’s’ itself and Seehorn wins or a new contender arrives (which now seems unlikely).

FYC BAFTA : Florence Pugh, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Greta Gerwig, Renée & Joaquin
FYC Oscar ; Renée Zellweger, Joaquin Phoenix & Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
FYC GD : Florence Pugh in all Categories, Wild Rose (Best Song)
FYC BAFTA TV : Olivia Colman, Killing Eve, Russell Tovey, Years and Years
FYC Emmys : Jodie Comer, Olivia Colman, Ruth Wilson

Every time I think of Dowd possibly being snubbed for S3 of Handmaid’s I get heart pain. It was her best season yet and she’s, IMO, one of the best actresses in the industry.

Oscar FYC - Lupita Nyong'o & Elisabeth Moss ("Us") - Best Actress & Supporting Actress. It must happen; otherwise the Tethered are coming.

I thought Helena Bonham Carter was good on The Crown but I don’t think they’re going to reward her when she’s basically only in two episodes.

This. She was very, very good in those two episodes, but do we know if all voters even watched the whole season? If they didn’t, they literally would only see her do actual, substantial work in one episode. I still think a nomination is 100% deserved because her work in those two episodes is amazing. I think I liked her more than Colman even. O’Connor was still the MVP.

Given the fact that The Crown’s won two acting Emmys already, I think it’s safe to say that enough actors will have watched the entire season.

I mean, it won for Foy who was a powerhouse in every episode and Lithgow who’s a beloved veteran and was literally playing Churchill. Both had a lot more to do than HBC did this season.
