The Crown needs to submit “Aberfan” for directing, because my God was that a stunning episode.

Emmys FYC - "Unbelievable" and "The Handmaid's Tale" in all categories; Viola Davis in Best Drama Actress for the final season of "HTGAWM."

And Watchmen should submit “A God Walks into Abar” for writing. There is nothing particular about its pilot and “This Extraordinary Being” is more of a directorial achievement. By the way, I really adored the show but I don’t think it deserves any acting nomination. I’m aware that Regina King is locked for a nomination though, given her previous wins.

I have yet to watch Watchmen past its pilot and am curious to see if the acting is as good as everyone makes it out to be. I wasn’t particularly wowed by anyone in the pilot, so I hope that changes.

WW isn’t getting dropped, Rachel Wood been nominated for S1&S2, her show won’t likely drop in quality, so we shouldn’t dismiss her, she’s so getting nominated. Comer is Vulnerable

    Few things to note:

    – Westworld was dropped from most guilds post 2018 Emmys (including SAG where Ensemble + Newton should easily have been a lock after winning the Emmy and being a previous nominee)
    – Westworld had a big drop in quality in Season 2
    – Sandra Oh was nominated for Killing Eve S1 + 2, being nominated for your previous two seasons does not automatically mean you’re a lock. I agree Oh is sadly getting dropped this year but I wouldn’t use Wood’s past two nominations as evidence that she is a lock this time round, particularly when she probably was in the bottom two of the 2018 nominees with Oh.
    – As someone who has been nominated by all the precursors, unless Killing Eve season 3 is one of the worst seasons of television ever, Comer is a lock.

I think Aniston, Colman, Comer, Moss and Kidman are locks and if there are six nominees, that final slot is between King, Oh, Snook and Wood.

You have to watch Watchmen till the end. I felt exactly like this but once it gets to episode 3, there is no reason to say that King and Smart don’t deserve to be nominated.

It was an ok pilot and episode 2 was good, but without giving anything away, once Smart comes into it…

This sounds hyperbolic, but if Schitts Creek ends up really performing well on nominations morning and all four of the main cast get in, could 2 if not 3 of them win it? O’Hara obviously seems to be carving the path for a win, but despite her being a clear MVP anyone who watches the show knows that it’s carried by all four, perhaps even more by the younger two (them going supporting is kinda fraud but whatever). It seems like every acting category besides lead actor could be Schitts Creek vs. Maisel, and if the cards are played right couldn’t the former drum up some real buzz?

    Hmm.

It all really depends on Schitts Creek’s quality this season. We can’t really say that Schitts Creek can “Fleabag” itself when Fleabag was a show that was missed by Emmy voters when it was the new kid on the block but got in because of high praise on Twitter for its season that arrived two years after its first, albeit with its star now having a much higher status due to her involvement in other projects.

If the quality of Schitts Creek keeps up this season then it possibly could be a threat to Maisel, however this seems unlikely at the moment seeming that Maisel still seems to be hugely popular with actors coming off of SAG, where Schitts Creek would have needed to have beaten Fleabag and Maisel to have been in contention.

Alex Borstein and Tony Shalhoub have become unbeatable for some reason. I would say that Dan Levy and Annie Murphy will be lucky to be nominated and that this is not one of those situations where getting the nomination is the hurdle. I could see Schitt’s Creek sweeping series and both lead categories without getting a supporting nomination.

I have “This Extraordinary Being” in my writing predictions because it got the USC nomination and I have the pilot because Damon Lindelof submitted the pilot of The Leftovers, despite it not being particularly acclaimed.

I feel like Shalhoub is easily winning again same with Kirby and possibly Borstein as well I haven’t seen the third season yet but what else is there besides Schitts Creek.

I tell you Westworld will be a major player this season.

I too believe this is our top six unless something really strong comes out. The thing with the acting nominations is that so many contenders have such a large announced cast that it’s hard to tell who is a series regular and who is just recurring at this stage. On the television movie side, I’m pretty sure HBO will acquire films from Sundance.

They already got Bad Education (A Hugh Jackman / Allison Janney comedy) from TIFF.

The other nominees I guess will be something like the Transparent Musical Finale, the Gavin & Stacey Xmas Special, Elizabeth Is Missing & one of the Dolly Parton Heartstrings episodes since Netflix have Black Mirror in series this year.
