Cool to see Dickinson on the list. That was a weird show, and I can’t say I loved all of it, but it was definitely fresh and intriguing and took some risks that paid off well. Good, unexpected choice!

We should be looking at around eight (seven to ten) of the entertainment nominees being awarded. Dickinson, Good Omens and Stranger Things seem like easy cuts; David Makes Man and Our Boys feel a little under the radar. The nominees that did not advance last year were Atypical, The Chi, Homecoming, My Brilliant Friend and This Close.

I know this has no bearing to the Emmys but it’s interesting to see Stranger Things and Ramy make the list.

FYC Emmys : THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL, SUCCESSION AND THE CROWN IN ALL CATEGORIES. Tony Shalhoub ("Maisel"), Cate Blanchett ("Mrs. America"), Matthew Macfadyen, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook ("Succession"), Tracey Ullman ("Mrs. America") and Louis Gossett Jr. ("Watchmen")

I reckon that this will make Damon Lindelof (Watchmen, The Leftovers, Lost) the only other than David Simon (Treme, The Wire, The Corner) to win for three shows on which he was showrunner. Simon is the king though, given how instrumental he was to Homicide, which is the only three-time winner. This is a perfect record for Lindelof though, given that he has only run three shows; Simon is batting .500 (The Deuce, Show Me a Hero, Generation Kill).

Chernoby, Fleabag, Ramy, Succession, Unbelievable, Watchmen, and When They See Us feel like the lineup.

I know it’s popular, I’m baffled at it getting a Peabody nomination for its third season.

Because it’s great. Fairly simple stuff.

“Chernobyl” vs. “When They See Us” again, gah. Looks like HBO, PBS, and Netflix slayed, so good for them. It’s all about “Succession” though. Fingers crossed!
