Possible outside shot could be the “Silly Games” sequence from Lovers Rock.

BAFTA have announced their Must See Moments nominees!

    https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/entertainment/bafta-tv-awards-2021-must-see-moment-nominees-newsupdate/

Bridgerton: Penelope is revealed as Lady Whistledown (Netflix)
Britain’s Got Talent: Diversity perform a routine inspired by the events of 2020 (ITV)
EastEnders: Gray kills Chantelle (BBC One)
Gogglebox: Reactions to Boris Johnson’s press conference (Channel 4)
Nigella: Cook, Eat, Repeat: Nigella says “Mee-cro-wah-vay” (BBC Two)
The Mandalorian: Luke Skywalker appears (Disney Plus)

I am so confused as to where Bridgerton and Ted Lasso are going to land in nominations on Wednesday. Are they going to compete in the main categories like Killing Eve or are both going international? And if they go international will they be eligible below the line like GoT?

FYC: All things The Crown, Hacks and I May Destroy You (and Hannah Waddingham and Julianne Nicholson whilst you're at it)!!

    Nigella LOL

Well done AMG for calling that EastEnders choice!

I reckon Gogglebox will win though I’m voting for The Mandalorian.

I had Nigella on my ‘longlist’ of potential nominees.

BGT could win it with the Diversity routine just for the ultimate two fingers up to the complainers.

The Mandalorian has the fan base to win it. But Gogglebox is the most popular across your typical UK audience so it’ll be interesting how that pans out.

I think Bridgerton will be eligible for the main categories but Ted Lasso only in International?

    Nigella deserves. Mee-cro-wah-vay is iconic.

That sounds like kinda dramatic Tom

If Bridgerton is eligible in the main categories (which I assumed it wasn’t because it’s solely produced by Shondaland) then I do think Bailey and/or one of the female supporting players should get in.

LEADING ACTRESS Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You) Emma Corrin (The Crown) Myha’la Herrold (Industry) Billie Piper (I Hate Suzie)

Now that’s what I call a lineup of TASTE!

    Why?

Because he is in a competitive field and the fact he nabbed an Emmy nomination and his star has risen so much since Normal People was released a year ago could hinder his chances. He could suffer from the slap the syndrome as it were.

I don’t think a snub for him tomorrow is “obvious” as the user above suggested (largely because we’ve rarely seen performers miss with a BPG and RTS combo as evidenced by Sandra Oh in 2018, Robbie Coltrane, Thandiwe Newton, Sean Bean, Ben Whishaw, Jared Harris, Jodie Comer, Suranne Jones). However I don’t see how it’s implausible that he ends up being the Richard Madden to Daisy Edgar-Jones’ Keeley Hawes. Even though we have six slots this time round he’s up against four men from Small Axe, Matthew Macfadyen in a showy performance in another bonafide acclaimed hit, David Tennant in perhaps the second buzziest performance on British television this year after Michaela Coel’s in I May Destroy You, Freddie Fox playing a serial killer and Toheeb Jimoh in a heartbreakingly poignant single drama.

He can get nominated but a snub isn’t out of the realms of possibility.

Definitely feeling an Emma Corrin snub coming up

Now I’d be shocked with this one. Corrin has showy tape after showy tape (which is something we’ve seen juries gravitate towards as of late) and she’s a newcomer. I can see her end up like Ncuti Gatwa last year and get in whilst everyone else from her show is snubbed (although I’m feeling weirdly confident in O’Connor and HBC retaining their nominations).

The one person I can see getting snubbed is Gillian Anderson. I’d nominate her personally but in spite of her status as a “queen of prestige television” in the UK (like Olivia Colman or Keeley Hawes), BAFTA seem to have been quite apathetic towards her. It helps her that her performance is showier in retrospect to the colder type of acting she’s delivered in something like The Fall but I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s the big snub of the year like Colman last year (although I am predicting Anderson to get nominated which I wasn’t Colman last year).

also will BAFTA TV be in the predictions centre?

One can only hope! We had them open a few years ago (I think in 2017?) but nothing since. Hopefully the fact we were able to predict the 2021 BAFTA film nominations in the prediction centre is a hopeful sign of what’s to come.
