I think Normal People will end up in Drama series at the BAFTAs instead of Miniseries like Giri/Haji.

FYC OSCARS : PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN IN ALL CATEGORIES (ESP. ACTRESS – Carey Mulligan AND ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY — EMERALD FENNELL), VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", ESSIE DAVIS FOR "BABYTEETH"

The Salisbury Poisonings is very powerful. Ann-Marie Duff and Rafe Spall should be serious contenders for nominations.

I may have said this before but I really hope the virtual ceremony bombs with viewers so next time round (if we have a Covid vaccine) we can have the usual star studded ceremony.

I really hope that if the Emmys and Oscars go with a virtual ceremony that they bomb too.

I thought episode 2 was a bit weaker than the first but otherwise, I’m enjoying it. Looking forward to the last one.

Not sure if it will be strong enough to compete for Mini-Series next year but I agree about the performances. I’m also a fan of Annabel Scholey’s role as Bailey’s wife.

Episode Three is very strong and emotionally impactful.

I agree about Annabel Scholey too – I’d love to see her in the conversation too.

With the BAFTA Film Awards 2021 now taking place in April, it’s likely these will be pushed back at some point too so they aren’t too close to one another.

Reggie Yates’ single Drama ‘Make Me Famous’ is now on iPlayer and airs on BBC One next Thursday.

It explores reality television and the impact of fame, starring Tom Brittney.

I’ve yet to watch it, but I think premise wise at least it could match the success of the ‘Murdered By…’ series at the BAFTAs.

You were right about episode 3, very strong.

Glad you liked Annabel too, she’s a solid actress with a lovely screen presence.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they just stayed between May to July. Unless BAFTA decides in its review to no longer be ahead of the Oscars I wouldn’t be surprised at them moving the film awards back to February in 2022.

I just realised that with There She GoesDeadwater FellStaged and Des that David Tennant has four chances to get his overdue BAFTA!

I’ll eat paper if he misses completely.

I expect Des will be his best chance of a nom (or win).

I tell you what (sounding like Hank Hill here!), it’ll be like eenie meenie miney mo if we’re predicting an actress from Talking Heads to make the cut.

Sarah Lancashire and Monica Dolan have an advantage given that their monologues are new compared to everyone else’s. However, the other actresses (including Imelda Staunton, Jodie Comer and Lesley Manville) have also received strong praise for their own take on the original works.
