This years’ honorees will be announced tomorrow. The ones that are recognized guarantee at least one major Emmy nomination. Also, it seems like Fleabag will not be eligible due to this rule:
My predictions:
1. Barry (HBO)
2. Chernobyl (HBO)
3. The Crown (NETFLIX)
4. Evil (CBS) / This Is Us (NBC)
5. Fosse/Verdon (FX)
6. Russian Doll (NETFLIX)
7. Stranger Things (NETFLIX)
8. Succession (HBO)
9. Watchmen (HBO)
10. When They See Us (NETFLIX)I hope I’m not that off with my picks; last year, they recognized The Kominksy Method.

They always allocate one of their slots to a broadcast network drama series.

Oh, didn’t knew about that, thanks. So I’ll put This Is Us over Watchmen.

They must have scrapped the broadcast network drama slot.
The omission of Barry and Russian Doll shocked me the most, otherwise nothing surprising. A solid list of critical darlings and Emmy players.
Veep and Game of Thrones, especially the latter, must have benefited from “the final season” status.December 4, 2019 at 12:02 pm #1203216872This year we have two special awards, which is new, Parasite was certain to be acknowledged so I totally dismissed Fleabag for that.

ReplyCopy URLDecember 4, 2019 at 12:28 pm #1203216936No Barry or Russian Doll is really shocking. The inclusion of only one comedy when the genre has been so much stronger than drama this year is really pathetic.

ReplyCopy URLOscar FYC - Lupita Nyong'o & Elisabeth Moss ("Us") - Best Actress & Supporting Actress. It must happen; otherwise the Tethered are coming.

Honestly, this year was stacked with great shows. Stranger Things didn’t get in either. I’m surprised Watchmen got in though…

I liked Season 3 more than 2 and the acting definitely improved but they structured the show wrong imo. Stranger Things would’ve worked better if they changed the storyline and characters each season. Season 1 was a work of art, however.

It’s an Alice Through the Looking Glass version of the graphic novel. Does not belong on any top 10 list. 46% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
