I was inspired to do this following a post on the film side about alternate Best Picture winners based on IMDB scores. We often talk about how critical reception is important in the Emmys but it is not the sole thing that decides who wins and loses. I thought I’d have a look at the Rotten Tomatoes scores of Drama Series nominees from 2000 to present, if anyone would like to post metacritic, imdb scores from those years or anything from earlier than please feel free to do so.

-2000 : The West Wing, Season 1 (NBC) (95%)
-2001 : The Sopranos, Season 3 (HBO) (100%)
-2002 : 24, Season 1 (Fox) (95%)
-2003 : 24, Season 2 (Fox) (94%)
-2004 : 24, Season 3 (Fox) (93%) (I find it laughable that if it was up to critical reception 24 would have won this many times)
-2005 : 24, Season 4 (Fox) (94%)
-2006 : 24, Season 5 (Fox) (100%)
-2007 : Boston Legal, Season 3 (ABC) (100%)
-2008 : Dexter, Season 2 (Showtime) (96%)
-2009 : Mad Men, Season 2 (AMC) and House, Season 5 (Fox) (Both 100%)
-2010 : Breaking Bad, Season 3 (AMC) (100%)
-2011 : Friday Night Lights, Season 5 (DirectTV) (100%)
-2012 : Homeland, Season 1 (Showtime), Downton Abbey, Season 2 (PBS) and Breaking Bad, Season 4 (AMC) (Both 100%)
-2013 : Mad Men, Season 6 (AMC) (98%)
-2014 : Breaking Bad, Season 5B (AMC) and Game of Thrones, Season 4 (HBO) (Both 97%)
-2015 : Better Call Saul, Season 1 (AMC) (97%)
-2016 : The Americans, Season 4 (FX) (99%)
-2017 : Better Call Saul, Season 3 (AMC) and Stranger Thing, Season 1 (Netflix) (Both 97%)
-2018 : The Americans, Season 6 (FX) (100%)
-2019 : Better Call Saul, Season 4 (AMC)

FYC OSCARS : PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN IN ALL CATEGORIES (ESP. ACTRESS – Carey Mulligan AND ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY — EMERALD FENNELL), VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", ESSIE DAVIS FOR "BABYTEETH"
