I feel like this will be the third season of American Comedy Story; this had been the trend for the past two seasons and I am not excited by the cast for the first time.
Same. They literally got rid of the best, acclaimed actress in the cast and kept the worst (or should I say, the ones I did not like as much).July 11, 2019 at 1:22 pm #1202971249
I don’t mind a younger cast or Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters stepping down (they were the leads of Cult and that season was beyond awful). However losing both of them and (it seems like) Adina Porter, Frances Conroy, Kathy Bates aswell is a bit much.July 12, 2019 at 7:31 am #1202972219
I’m also okay with them stepping out tbh. Exploiting them started to tarnish the show more than it helped. Paulson playing the new villainess of Apocalypse for 3 episodes when she already was going to reprise her Coven role for the rest of the season served no other purpose than pushing audience’s suspension of disbelief. I also don’t necessarily have a problem with the younger cast, just afraid of the soapy elements we will be exposed based on the previews. But maybe the show will turn out to be better if it fully embraces its campiness.July 12, 2019 at 7:56 am #1202972286This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.August 18, 2019 at 11:45 am #1203029005
Jessica Lange ranked her AHS seasons in a Gold Derby interview:
3. Murder House
2. Freak Show
and of course
She liked Fiona but not the season. Murder House have a special place in her heart. Freak Show was her favorite season, but she thinks Asylum is the best. She didn’t watched Apocalypse.August 18, 2019 at 12:41 pm #1203029043

Darlings, Jessica Lange slaying as usual.

Asylum and Freak Show are the best seasons so she’s right.August 24, 2019 at 11:46 am #1203037830
This season actually got back my interest by the teaser trailers and promos. I’ve never expected to be anticipating another season of AHS and it’s been Hotel since the last time I did. Even last season’s “return of fan faves” didn’t do it for me.
I love Sarah Paulson and definitely looking forward to Ratched and her Lana Winters in Asylum is my favorite performance of her, while I also like Evan Peters in this anthology but it’s such a breathe of fresh air to not see them among the cast this season and we got the young faces from the past seasons. The 80s slasher flick theme is also good on paper so looking forward to what they would do this season.
But the thing with AHS, what kept my interest and fascination the past season (2-5) are the line up and the works of their directors. So here’s hoping they brought back Michael Uppendahl, Michael Goi and Gwyneth Horder-Payton even if ALfonso Gomes-Rejon and Jeremy Podeswa are totally not returning the director’s chairs. And hope a new AHS veteran would take over from teh likes of Bates, Bassett and Lange.August 26, 2019 at 11:13 am #1203040612
Awful trailer.August 26, 2019 at 11:25 am #1203040642
I gotta admit that was quite uninspiring and it’s becoming a parody of itself. Not even campy anymore, just parody. Like Scary Movie or something
Another season of Ryan Murphy’s favorite fetish: killing and torturing LGBTs for no narrative purpose!
