“Season 2 of the Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning true-crime satire follows co-creators/documentarians Peter Maldonado and Sam Ecklund as they bring their investigative skills to an elite Catholic school where someone has been taking poop-related pranks to new heights. From co-creators Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault and showrunner Dan Lagana, American Vandal‘s second season will have viewers speculating: Who is the Turd Burglar?”
Season 2 launches Friday, September 14.August 21, 2018 at 3:24 pm #1202613934
I could not be more excited for the return of this show. The trailer looks great. I hope more people discover this hidden gem.August 21, 2018 at 4:07 pm #1202613955
It will be out the same day of Bojack (and The Dragon Prince). September 14 will be a hell of a day.August 29, 2018 at 6:36 pm #1202619720
Metacritic: 83 with 4 reviews.
It may take a little longer to get there than last time, but this new season becomes a worthy follow-up by not only swapping out one anatomical gag for another, but by filing off some of its goofier edges for another grounded look at the other daily challenges of high school life. – Indiewire (91)
American Vandal season 2 is not only more ambitious than its predecessor but shockingly darker and more inventive. – Collider (80)September 14, 2018 at 10:19 am #1202631973
Travis Tope is so freaking awesome!September 14, 2018 at 11:01 pm #1202632362
I am a sucker for scatalogical humor, but I didn’t love the premiere. I liked the whole Netflix explanation, but the episode in general was not as sharp, well structured, subtle, or funny as the first season’s premiere. I do think it has room to get better though. Tips definitely was really good. Also, while the show is obviously absurd, season 1 was grounded more in reality, and this season is not to that extent. Netflix should submit this in comedy next year because limited is fraud.September 15, 2018 at 1:31 pm #1202632647
Great second season! The writing was sharp, directing on point and a knockout performance by Melvin Gregg as the charismatic DeMarcus Tillman. His scene in the car in the finale was so moving. I’m calling for a nomination of any sort, please and thank you!
This is an excellent follow-up to a great first season. Hopefully the Emmys (or Globes) bite more this season!September 15, 2018 at 7:06 pm #1202632797
I think season 2 is probably better than season 1. I’ll have a firmer answer once I can let it breath and then rewatch it though. Highly entertaining; in a weekend with the new season of Bojack coming out this may have been my favorite of the two.September 15, 2018 at 9:30 pm #1202632848
Before the finale I would have said this season was an obvious step down from season 1 but that last episode was really great. The conclusion to the case felt a lot more surprising and creative than season 1 but overall the season 1 case was a lot more fun and suspenseful. Melvin Gregg was great and Travis Tope gives perhaps the most realistic portrayal of the high school weirdo I’ve ever seen.September 15, 2018 at 10:27 pm #1202632853
Very real and very very thorough. The thought and care put into everything from the structure to the charcters to the motives to the actual crime. American Vandal Season 2 gets the little things right that other shows like it couldn’t pull off if they tried. The Instagram bios and other social media things were so perfectly executed with insanely crazy detail up to the amount of likes on a picture and it really made it feel real. Watched this with a friend who had never heard of it and he goes “wait how did this actually happen.” Maybe my friend is just gullible but it was pulled off pretty damn genuinely well. My favorite part of the show is how they examined these characters in such nuanced yet effective ways. Melvin Gregg and Travis Tope hit it out of the park and their arcs being completed in the finale showed just how effectively everything was built up throughout. I really appreciate the love that went into this show with such a silly premise because it’s so intelligent and says so much, and I think this show is one of the very best being made right now. So pleasedSeptember 16, 2018 at 8:48 am #1202633043
Loved s2. This shows is truly underrated and deserves more exposure. It’s just so clever to make a completely dumb mystery so interesting, I hope it gets more award love.September 17, 2018 at 2:36 am #1202633672
Wow this season actually was amazing. All of the different themes and threads really paid off to an explosive ending. It really reminds me of American Crime season 2. This show hands down deserves to win casting and writing. Travis Tope was amazing and deserves an Emmy nomination. No show has ever had such an in depth understanding of today’s youth. Easily one of the best programs of the year.
