Feeling far more confident in my predictions after seeing that Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw aren’t attending. Can’t remember the last time a TV BAFTA went to someone who wasn’t there.

For Your GoldDerby Decade Awards Consideration:

Downton Abbey in Series, Supporting Actress and Ensemble. Glee in Supporting Actress, Guest Actor and Guest Actress.

Claire Foy and Lisa Kudrow in Drama and Comedy Actress respectively.

But it is not like BAFTA notifies the winners in advance?

But it is not like BAFTA notifies the winners in advance?

Yeah I know so there is obviously no actual direct correlation but I really can’t remember the last time a winner wasn’t there so am guessing there must be some kind of industry chatter that relatively correctly hints who is going to win

For Your GoldDerby Decade Awards Consideration:

Downton Abbey in Series, Supporting Actress and Ensemble. Glee in Supporting Actress, Guest Actor and Guest Actress.

I had Grant and Whishaw winning, but I find it very hard to believe that 2 of the acting winners won’t be their to accept. I do think one them will win but I’m not sure which one.

Globes FYC- Fleabag, Phoebe Waller Bridge, Jodie Comer, Dame Emma Thompson, The Crown

SAG FYC- The Crown, Olivia Colman, Fleabag, PWB

Critics Choice- Schitts Creek, Fleabag, Killing Eve, Bodyguard

    BAFTA- Fleabag, Killing Eve

Oscars FYC ‘Little Women’ ‘Downton Abbey’ ‘Maggie Smith’

Who are you predicting @gabarnes43 ? I think mini series and Actor is between Patrick Melrose and AVES, whichever one wins one, the other will win the other, so my updated predictions are (I know I said mine were final but @forwardswill has given me new insight).

The results are really surprising, because after the machinations with eligibility I’d expected nothing less than a Killing Eve bloodbath. Perhaps they got sick of the Waller-Bridge hype, or perhaps they cannot make up their minds between KE, AVES and Melrose. Wolfali’s suggestion that Melrose could take both Miniseries and Actor is a bit alarming though. And if that happens, then the point made by someone earlier that the mission of the BAFTA TV awards was to give a career boost to lesser-known but deserving actors will fly out of the window.

It was me who talked about “career boost to lesser-known but deserving actors” but that was in relation to nominations alone.

For actual winners, there are no patterns at all! For every Georgina Campbell or Vicky McClure winning there is an “Appropriate Adult Sweep”.

For what it’s worth, my instincts for the Acting categories are (because it’s very rare that “most acting” isn’t rewarded by a BAFTA jury) –

Actor: Lucian Msamati (Grant and Cumberbatch are equally realistic but I really don’t see an “all white on the night” winners line-up from a jury that sits together and selects all four winners at the same time? Msamati was amazing and very deserving)

Actress: Jodie Comer (Hawes would have taken Supporting for this in a heartbeat – my heart lies with Wilson but Comer is showy as hell)

    Supporting Actor: Stephen Graham

Supporting Actress: NO IDEA (presumably Shaw? Dolan has a killer episode, Hawes is solid but unspectacular despite it seemingly being “her year” and I haven’t seen Piper, though many seem to think that she had little to do?)

This is not what happens. Each category has a different jury.

Thank you for clarifying/correcting – in that case, I can’t choose between Msamati/Grant/Cumberbatch (he confidently says as tomorrow we watch Chance Perdomo take the win!)
