I’m having trouble with some episodes here
What is the point of two episodes for Edgerton’s character and episode 7 don’t even get me started.

They could really have cut some time of this show, but it is what is.

    For Your Emmy Consideration:
Matthew Rhys for "Perry Mason" | Ethan Hawke for "The Good Lord Bird", THE GOOD LORD BIRD in ALL CATEGORIES | Elizabeth Olsen and Kathryn Hahn for "Wandavision" | Tobias Menzies for "The Crown" | MJ Rodriguez for "Pose" | Jane Levy for "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist"

Finished it today. Everything about it was perfect. Writing, directing, acting, cinematography, music.. whatever you name it. It has such an original tone and style. I loved how raw and wild Episode 5 was. It’s a breathtaking psychological drama. Loved all the psychological analysis of Cora and Arnold.  The show really made me question my comfort. I still can’t stop thinking about it, simply the best miniseries of this season.

I don’t agree with you. Arnold’s backstory added so much depth and depicting Fanny/Grace’s fate shows that the story cares about all its characters and they are not just plot devices for Cora’s story.

Couldn’t care less about Arnold, his background was not needed for me.
Grace’s episode was so fast that it didn’t made me feel anything (strong visuals tho)

Those 3 are bottom 3 for me, all the others I found amazingly beautiful and strong.

I might finish tonight since it’s only 3 episodes away, but this middle part was shaky for me.

Why are these three shows being compared directly?

Episodes 1-3 are thrilling and amazing.

Episodes 4-7 dragged don’t even try to say they didn’t. they could have made all of those into 1-2 episodes.

Gonna finish it tomorrow, hopefully it picks up again (i read it does) cause i can see some people give up on the show during these.

Also love the music, I’ll listen to this score again for sure. Nicholas Britell did what he had to do.

Bcs as a black man i found “them” and lovecraft pretty boring and weird black propaganda sci-fi with confusing/no pay off. I enjoyed the acting in “them” and the cinematography and the storytelling here and there but lovecraft was trash to me.

This felt much more fleshed out and i respect it more for what its going for.

I also compare them all bcs they are black period dramas dealing with race.

Why else wouldnt i compare them?

4-7 was some of my fave episodes.

But the lilly rabe episode and episode 10 about Mabel was the top top top tier.

Why are these three shows being compared directly?

Because they are all about the black experience during the segregation/slavery era.

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!

One thing i can’t go on without saying is how fucking great is the music/score
My god this is perfect, it’s heavenly, it should win all music related things from the creative (obviously not song but still)

Well finally finished, although I do have some criticism here and there, it is a pretty great show, I’m not going as far to say I adore or that is my favorite, but it’s solid and has some great acting, writing, and especially, cinematography.

    Eps 1-3: Excellent
Eps 4-7: okay but waaaaay overstretched for me
    Eps 8-10: Excellent as well

Overall I’d give a 8/10, obviously nomination for Mbedu, nominations for it’s writing, directing, Lily Rabe, Aaron Pierre and Series.

I’ve just watched the first four episodes and it’s a STUNNING show!

Beautifully written and directed with great cinematography and score. And that acting? Superb!

Mbedu and Rabe were my highlights as of now, but Pierre is a close third.

Barry Jenkins is just a really great filmmaker!

They shouldn’t be grouped in together. Lovecraft Country has nothing to do with The Underground Railroad

IMO it was one of the best shows of this season, if not the best. Barry Jenkins is a genius!
