I am about done with the final season of “Bates Motel.” This season has been stellar. The writing and directing in “Marion” was amazing, and Freddie Highmore never getting nodded for this will be horrid. However, Vera Farmiga, AS AMAZING AS SHE IS, has been totally too comedic this season to get in and be a major factor in the race, IMO.

Honestly, I just got a little choked up. Odd to get emotional over a show about a serial killer and his fucked up relationship with his mom. This was a FANTASTIC show and delivered one of the most satisfying series finales I have seen. Maybe the best since “Friday Night Lights.” And one of the showrunners of that show (Kerry Ehrin) and another from “Lost” (Carlton Cuse) were at the helm here. This could not have ended any other way. I applaud A&E for giving Cuse and Ehrin full reins to do five seasons and flesh it out the way they saw it in their development. Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore continuously gave their all every week. These are two of the best performances I have seen on TV. To take the story and characters of the most applauded thriller of all time and make it its own? Just beautiful execution of art and style. I am going to miss “Bates Motel on A&E.” Thanks for five AMAZING seasons of TV.

The series was a gem. I was surprised Ehrin and Cuse were able to pull it off and in flying colors. I couldn’t stressed enough that “MARION” was a series-best episode in a show full of brilliant episodes that has become some of the best episodes of their repective TV seasons: “First You Dream, Then You Die” to “Shadow of a Doubt”, “The Immutable Truth” to “Norma Louise”, “Refraction” to the combo of “Forever” and “Norman”, it was an impressive run.

Really hoping Phil Abraham, Cuse and Ehrin to get Emmy nods for directing and writing the Marion Crane episode.
