The safe picks are Hale and Janney repeating. I think, however, Anderson, Chlumsky and McKinnon are all very much capable of upsets.
OSCAR FLASHBACK: Best Original Song (1989) – A Love Letter to Howard AshmanAugust 5, 2016 at 11:13 am #1201903472
Mark my words, I’m going with a NGNG prediction: NIECY NASH. I think she’s strong, she’s popular, she also has Scream Queens where she proved her comic skills, and Janney won just about enough.August 5, 2016 at 2:18 pm #1201903560
Ty Burrell has a killer tape, too bad it won’t matter anyway.
As for actress, I just hope Janney loses to anyone.August 5, 2016 at 4:25 pm #1201903614
Will Win: McKinnon and Hale
Could Win: Janney and Burgess
Should Win: McKinnon and Simons (A boy can dream)
Dark Horse Spoilers: Nash and Key
McKinnon is the greatest comedy actor/actress on TV and I think she wins this year because she won’t have vote averages dragged down by those who don’t go for sketch comedy. Might be wishful thinking but I’m going with it. I could realistically see anyone except Hoffmann winning. I’m, reluctantly, going with Hale for now, but Burgess, Anderson, Burrell, or Key, see reason for McKinnon winning, could pull it off. Hale and Walsh could split votes and then what? Would they go back to Burrell? Give it to Burgess as a make up for last year? Maybe enough people really love Anderson in Baskets or maybe Key could win the sentimental vote for the last season of Key & Peele. I just don’t know, I hope you are all having an easier timeAugust 6, 2016 at 12:10 pm #1201903778
Can someone please explain to me why Anna Chlumsky is always nominated and why she is considered a strong contender??
I don’t dislike her, but she’s not funny at all in Veep. She just pales in comparison to Tony Hale as Gary, Timothy Simons as Jonah, and Sufe Bradshaw as Sue. I just don’t get it.August 6, 2016 at 8:57 pm #1201903855
Hale and Janney. Hale can be threatened by Anderson’s mith status in comedy, but I don’t see how Janney can lose, not when tapes doesn’t matter and when McKinnon doesn’t really has a big movie in contention and the fact that Poehler and Wiig were unable to win for a sketch show. I mean, does McKinnon really has this kind of power? not really.August 6, 2016 at 10:03 pm #1201903896

She benefits from being the strongest actor on SNL. She is winning critics over on film and TV. She is slowly becoming more and more relevant. People really like her. She has been in the industry a while. Plus a lot of Hollywood is behind Hillary. She is widely known as playing the part. Plus, how many guest episodes does she appear in? 5/12. That’s so much time for voters to get a great look at her. She has a lot going for her.
The real winner in supporting actress would be Kristen Schaal in Bob’s Burgers. Silly rabbit rules against cartoons competing in categories broadcast on television are for kids.August 6, 2016 at 11:37 pm #1201903906
You could say the same thing about Poehler back in 2008, including Hilary’s part even if it wasn’t that big, it was very famous back then. And McKinnon had Ghostbusters only, and the movie wasn’t even a big hit, I would love to see her win, but I don’t see this happening.August 7, 2016 at 1:22 am #1201903911
Ghostbusters is one of the most talked films of the year, so yes, it’s a big hit. Financially, critically, and at all.
But nope. I doubt that they’ll go for a variety performer in this category. And they shouldn’t be.August 7, 2016 at 1:33 am #1201903917
Do they really want to make Janney the most winning actress ever? (tied with Cloris Leachman?)August 7, 2016 at 8:46 am #1201903988

Don’t forget Cloris Leachman also has 1 Daytime Emmy in addition to her 8 Primetime Emmys, so to truly tie with Leachman, Janney will have to win 2 more Emmys.August 7, 2016 at 8:47 am #1201903989
I think Tony Hale will win again and Anna Chlumsky will pull an upset win over Allison Janney.August 7, 2016 at 1:44 pm #1201904035
Ghostbusters had bad press all over it and it’s far from a commercial hit, by the way its more of a flop and the critics liked but it wasn’t any closer to a Bridesmaids or Knocked Up type of critics hit.
