The Glee poll was extraordinarily close, with only two votes separating the top two. However, Jane Lynch narrowly beat Lea Michele

(2) Arrested Development – Jessica Walter
(3) Grey’s Anatomy – Sandra Oh

Now we move onto one of the most popular drama series of all time. I don’t watch Mad Men, but I tried to use my best discretion to choose the nine people for this poll. If I left anyone off, please vote for other and specify your vote.October 4, 2014 at 8:47 am #335584
This is the easiest one yet.

For me this is between Hamm and Slattery but I voted Slattery by a hair.October 4, 2014 at 10:49 am #335586
Also very interested to see how Moss does (the dark horse in this race I would think).October 4, 2014 at 10:57 am #335587
It’s between Jon Hamm and Lizzy Moss. I vote for the latter since Peggy interests me the most.October 4, 2014 at 11:09 am #335588
Jon Hamm. This will be a runaway victory for him.October 4, 2014 at 11:34 am #335589
Moss. She’s the actor who’s been forced to show the most versatility and the one with the most consistent arc. Hamm has had some great seasons (one, three, somewhat 7.1) but also some seasons where his character has stalled and/or where many of his performances seemed indifferent or just off (four, six). No one else’s character has been given enough strong material throughout the series to compete with those two.October 4, 2014 at 11:53 am #335590
I know a lot of people hate on January Jones but she’s so prefect as Betty. Maybe not many other roles but Betty is literally the perfect character for her to play.
And I LOVE BettyOctober 4, 2014 at 12:34 pm #335591
I voted for Moss. She’s so precise and incisive in her portrayal of Peggy that I think any other actress would have made it a different (less sympathetic) part.
Jon Hamm is very good, but there is a level of authenticity with Moss that makes me forget I’m watching an actress. When Hamm raises his voice, I start noticing the borders of my TV screen, and the onscreen magic is gone — it’s just not as genuine.October 4, 2014 at 12:59 pm #335592
Jon Hamm (he’s the only one that keeps you awake)October 4, 2014 at 1:13 pm #335593
Moss.October 4, 2014 at 1:43 pm #335594
Ben Feldman as an option over Kiernan Shipka, Jared Harris, Bryan Batt, Kevin Rahm, Mark Moses, Rich Sommer, Aaron Staton, Michael Gladis, etc? Why? I mean, yeah, he got an Emmy nomination, but not in a regular role category like Harris did.
1. Jon Hamm
2. John Slattery
3. Vincent Kartheiser
4. Elisabeth Moss
5. Kiernan Shipka
6. Jared Harris
7. Christina Hendricks
8. Bryan Batt
9. Jessica Pare
10. Aaron Staton
I love this cast but Hamm has just gotten the widest showcase of material (even if some others possibly get to be expressive more often) and he’s just made a TV icon.October 4, 2014 at 2:02 pm #335595
Yes, there are glaring oversights in this poll.October 4, 2014 at 3:51 pm #335596
True, true. I apologize – I haven’t been keeping up with the show as much as I used to unfortunately. I replaced Ben Feldman with Jared Harris in the poll. Terribly sorry
