For me, Davis blows the others out of the water. For the first few seasons of HTGAWM, she was on a whole other level for me. Danes would be my #2. She had magical moments on Homeland.

    1. Viola Davis (HTGAWM)
    2. Claire Danes (Homeland)
    3. Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black)
    4. Robin Wright (House of Cards)
    5. Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale)

I almost felt guilty voting for Foy because of recency bias and the fact that she was only two seasons, but damnit she’s just too good I couldn’t not.

Russel for me was a close second and Wright in third. I’m sure had I watched Orphan Black I would have a strong opinion about Maslany. I think the Leftovers may be my next binge.

Moss is obviously great, but its almost cheating because her show basically writes scenes and entire episodes dedicated to getting her an Emmy, Foy and Russel are great without throwing up flags asking for TV academy members to notice them

Keri Russell with Tatiana Maslany, Viola Davis and Claire Foy as runner-ups.

Yet Moss is still at zero in the poll.

I accidentally voted for Davis, because I hadn’t properly made up my mind

Yeah I don’t regret it. It’s me after all, Viola will always be my #1 queen and I am stunned that she’s tied for the lead ATM.

OMG that scene was SO good. After that speech, I knew she was submitting that episode and I knew she was winning the Emmy; I literally told the people I was watching with: She’s winning for this.

But her baby scene is still my favorite. I’ve never been so affected by a performance; I felt so bad for Annalise:

Also, she should have been nominated last year for “Lahey v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania” for this scene alone:

What a hard choice, I have watched all of them (all the seasons of every show) with the exception of Davis (I have watched clips of her on YouTube, but not a single entire episode) think that objectively Maslany, Russell, Moss and Danes changed TV and gave iconic performances, the four of them are on the same level, but I choose Maslany because she gave us 6 iconic characters.

I adore Foy, she would be my number five, mostly because she only had two seasons, Margulies is a classy and subtle actress, but her role got repetitive and annoying by the end of the show, so she is 6 (the two Emmy wins that she has are totally deserved though), then Coon, Wright and Comer are a supporting players in comparison with the others, Coon is played beautifully the human desperation and misery, Comer is an incredible actress that can do anything, she may go up in my ranking with future seasons, Wright is the weakest, but I give her credit for making Claire more interesting on screen that she is on paper. From the clips I have seen of Davis I found her terribly theatrical and mistaken in what medium she is actually acting, it is a shame that she is the only black actress here, I hope we see more black actresses in great roles.
