Some shows have a great pilot and fall off track later in the season, while others gradually improve after a mediocre start.
What’s been the best pilot this decade? For me I was absolutely captivated by Westworld’s pilot.

I’m not passionate about many/any. Game of Thrones may be the best one.

If I remember correctly the original pilot with the original cast was so bad that they had to reshoot with a different cast (the current cast).
I think the Mr Robot pilot was better tbh.

If we count limited series, than I also throw in True Detective, and probably the best of all of them, the masterpiece pilot for The Night Of.

It has to be one of the best of the decade.
Also shout outs to the pilots of Homeland and Modern Family.

And this might seem random, but I loved the Jessica Jones pilot.

It’s a really good show, but that pilot was like nothing else. I’d also include Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which set up a dark, DARK premise with such nimble comedic ability that it’s easy to take for granted the level on which Fey and Carlock are operating.
