The shows I listes below are what I believe had the most influence on this decade and tv industry. For some of them I added reasons.

    1. Game of Thrones: Shaped the epic fantasy genre by focusing more on power struggles and character dynamics instead of fantasy elements.
    2. Breaking Bad
    3. Mad Men
    4. Downton Abbey
    5. The Good Wife
    6. House of Cards: Netflix’s first scripted show which started the streaming era through its binge worthy serialized stroy nature. Also contributed to the peak TV by luring names like David Fincher and Robin Wright.
    7. Orange is the New Black: One of Netflix’s first shows that again initiated streaming era. Resparked the interest for dramedy.  Its cast was one of the most diverse one on TV. As the show progressed it started to focus more on side characters and by that changed the perception of lead character should be the most seen character.
    8. Modern Family: Changed the family sitcom genre forever. One of the best comedy ensemble cast ever. Won best comedy series on Emmys five times in a row.
    9. Glee: This show was definitely the most popular at the earlier years of the decade. Blended music and comedy in such a clever way.
    10. Parks and Recreation: Iconic cast
    11. The Big Bang Theory: JIM PARSONS
    12. Transparent: Even though not a popular show, this show is definitely responsible for the recent demand in dark comedies. Mocked the family comedy genre through covering subjects like gender and sexuality.
    13. American Horror Story: If we are discussing anthology and limited series today it’s all due to AHS. Revived the anthology genre with interesting storylines and great performers.

I think the shows (not counting shows that started before 2010) that can be considered artefacts of this decade and genuinely pushed boundaries were:

Game of Thrones (hit of the decade, made fantasy viable again)
American Horror Story (reinventing what a miniseries could be)
The Leftovers (exploring faith in a way that had never been seen before)
Hannibal (pushing the boundaries of network TV/horror in general)
Atlanta (the most creative comedy of the decade)
Succession (deconstructing ‘the 1%’ and perfectly capturing the political/economic climate of the latter half of the decade)
Chernobyl/When They See Us/OJ (landmark ‘factual’ miniseries)
Maybe Enlightened at a stretch but I feel like that has been forgotten.
I would’ve included True Detective if it stuck to the lovecraftian theme of season 1, which I haven’t seen done as well as that season on either TV or film.

My favourite show was The Americans though – that show will definitely stay with me for the rest of my life.

    For Your Consideration:

Best International Feature: Instinct (The Netherlands)
Best Actress: Carice van Houten (Instinct)

Atlanta, Hannibal, Twin Peaks: The Return, The Leftovers, The Americans, Better Call Saul, You’re the Worst, Justified.
I have not seen Rectify nor Halt and Catch Fire, which look promising on paper.
