TV fans, we want to know what you think is the BEST series finale of all time. Give us your choices and quick reasons why. Thanks!May 13, 2016 at 10:21 am #1201833212
Six Feet Under for sure!!!May 13, 2016 at 10:28 am #1201833220
The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Friday Night Lights and Newhart would probably be my top 3. MTM and FNL just completely nailed it all-around, while Newhart‘s twist is truly one of the all-time great and most hilarious television moments period.
Honorable Mentions: The Wonder Years, Cheers (not amazing episodes but still moving, given all of the time you’ve spent with these characters)
OSCAR FLASHBACK: Best Original Song (1954) – The Biggest Robbery Since Brink’sMay 13, 2016 at 11:19 am #1201833235
Like a lot of the series Six Feet Under’s finale hasn’t aged all that well.
Off the dome favorites: Friday Night Lights, Angel (though it wasn’t meant to be a series closer), Justified, 30 Rock, The Shield, The Mary Tyler Moore, Arrested Development (season three finale) Cheers, CarnivaleMay 13, 2016 at 12:47 pm #1201833260
Mad Men, “Person to Person”

Personal favorite? Sex and the City.May 13, 2016 at 1:40 pm #1201833269
The Shield – “Family Meeting” – the best episode of the series, and it put a ‘cap’ on the series better than any other finale that I’ve seen. Everything in the entire series built up to this spectacular ending.May 13, 2016 at 7:37 pm #1201833934
I think “All Good Things” from “Star Trek: TNG” was a masterpiece. Heck, you could have released that episode as one of the “Next Generation” feature films and it would have been the best one. This felt like a perfect cap to the series for me.
“Chosen” from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is also another personal favorite, though I’m biased because of my adoration for that show. It was a great episode, but in hindsight there were better episodes that season even.
“-30-” from “The Wire” was brilliant, a perfect summation of the show.May 13, 2016 at 7:42 pm #1201833939

Among dramas Six Feet Under for sure.
The Shield and Mad Men were also great.
Honorable mentions to Friday Night Lights, The West Wing and Big LoveMay 14, 2016 at 11:28 pm #1201835947
Mash, Friends, Frasier, Cheers, The Golden Girls, Who’s The Boss, Growing Pains. All terrific finales that wrapped up long running series with the appropriate amounts of sentimentality and style.
The West Wing, for giving us a satisfactory ending, even if we know Sorkin would have done it better.
Dawson’s Creek for doing what Dawson’s Creek does best.
The Wonder Years for being generally great.
and of course Mad Men.May 15, 2016 at 4:21 am #1201835967
I still remember the gut wrenching agony of my television going dark in the final moments of the finale to The Sopranos. Cursing the cable company for missing this moment, I finally realized that this was the moment. A life of crime is an unending anguish that violence is ever present. Does the fact that Tony’s career invades his home, informs his personal decisions, affects his children’s choices, challenges his marriage, and creates uncertainty reflect my relationship with my own work environment? For many, the last moments of The Sopranos are well remembered and still prompt thoughtful speculation. Brilliant.
