Are we really not going to talk about how Celeste masturbated to old family videos of Perry?

Yeah, those fucked up relationships take a toll even after death. Also, Mary Louise is like the worst person to be around when trying to get better because she keeps building that abuser up. However, I know she will probably make a confession later on because she doesn’t look like the clueless type of mother; she probably knew exactly what the guy was.

Amazing Performances!!!! Season 2 is even more rich in performances than Season 1 was.

Witherspoon, Kidman, Dern and Streep are locks for Golden Globe´s nominations. (Yes, Golden Globes are first awards to come for this show, then i can talk about Emmys)

Weigert’s therapist should have her license revoked omg.

I totally agree. I’m surprised there hasn’t been outrage/online discussion about how inappropriate Dr. Reisman is in her sessions. Take all of this with a grain of salt because I know nothing about the practice of psychotherapy but it seems that she is way too pushy with her input and forces her opinions on her patients in a way that doesn’t seem professional. Someone needs to inform her that talking slowly in a soft voice does not equal professionalism.

Her methods were understandable in the first season because of the level of abuse but now that Perry is dead and she is seeing Madeline and Ed as well it is starting to seem less believable. Not only that, but it seems like the character is only even there to handfeed the audience deep insights about the other characters. I hope that either this character’s screentime is reduced or the writing can correct the problems with her characterization.

Those are definitely some weird sessions. I don’t know if she’s trying to help them or to hypnotize them with that voice… at least I know Renata will probably not book an appointment and if she does, it will be a magical surreal moment.

Reese was brilliant in episode 3!!!

Dern is phenomenal and so much better than last season. Woodley is heartbreaking in this role. Streep should not win the Emmy, she’s been outacted in both episodes 2 and 3.

I’m starting to think Streep isn’t that safe to win. I mean, it’s not like the emmys owe her anything. She has a few already, she’s lost awards plenty of times. I don’t see why she’d win if she has costars nominated that many people think have given better performances, plus there being a viable alternative in HBC. The globes will go for her, but she needs more than just her name to get the emmy.

After watching this show it’s really weird to think that Laura Dern played both Reese Witherspoon’s and Shailene Woodley’s mom

Unfair to say Streep got outacted considering the volume of her screentime compared to the others. Also, Renata and Jane are established characters. We’ve been with them since S1. They’ve had time to bloom and are pretty much main characters now. I don’t like to think of this as am acting battle royale even though everyone is outstanding in their roles.

Eva Green was not nominated for an Emmy for Penny Dreadful.

    1. It is not about being hired for a small role, it is about the performance and so far she is being outacted by Dern and Woodley. Just like another user said, I hope they will not give her another Emmy. Woodley needs her career to take off as a serious actress, then she can Emma Stone her way to the Oscar. This Emmy is just what she needs to do so.

well i wouldn’t say outacted. Every time i see meryl i am just in awe of the acting choices that She makes. The scream , the necklace acting, herself wanting fake teeth. Her speech pattern When She is monologueing is something amazing. Dern and Woodley are still incredible but they are not outacting her. We just have to see How the rest of the season plays out cause streep uptil now has had very Little to do. Very excited this show is amazing

Why everybody love Renata Klein? I personally can’t stand her character. Laura Dern is very good, but her character is such a bitch, in a bad way.

Oh and is it me or Shailene Woodley have something in her eyes that makes you want to cry? Like, everytime she have an emotion, I have so much compassion for her. She’s absolutely incredible.

mmmmh I’d disagree. Renata is loud and dramatic but in the end, she is just trying to protect what she had to work her butt off to build.

Also, her husband is dumb and useless.

But 100% agreed on Shailene. Heartbreaking performance.

Do you think there is a possibility that they push Woodley in  Lead to help Kravitz at the possibility of a nomination?

That would probably kill Woodley’s chances which would be hurtful because she’s outstanding this season but it would also be a relief so Kravitz can get nominated.
