HATED most of this episode. My grade: C+. Only parts I liked were the courtroom scenes and Dern with her big moment. Meryl’s scream or her stuff this episode vs that…..Emmys have a tough choice there

July 22, 2019 at 10:31 am #1202990032The ending was pretty flat, but the episode as a whole was great. Meryl and Nicole were amazing in the courtroom scene. That might gain them both Emmys.

Great season which explored the impact of actions which other shows tend to not really show in any depth.
I can see Kidman, Dern, Kravitz, Streep and Scott all getting nominations. Kidman and Streep are strong contenders to win their categories so far.
I think Lead Actress will be too competitive for Witherspoon to make it in too. In Supporting I can’t see BLL having as dominating as GoT has this year. It takes away from far too many richly deserving nominees in other shows for four to make it in. Woodley is great, but I think the other three pip her, which is a shame because she was my Supporting Actress champ instead of Dern in S1.

July 22, 2019 at 11:22 am #1202990108If Kidman doesn’t win the Golden Globe again, it will be unfathomable to me. The last two episodes, despite Meryl getting the spotlight in the finale, were all her in her most astounding form. Unless Olivia Colman’s performance in The Crown has the secret to solve climate change, I will riot if she beats Nicole.
Really though, I think the Globes, SAG, Critics Choice, and Emmys will be kind to the show. Meryl seems all but assured to sweep Supporting Actress. I really, really hope Nicole can maintain the buzz through Colman’s inevitable hype.

I can see Nicole winning the Emmy but the Globe will be an uphill battle for her given their love of what’s new out there. So as they have honored Nicole in this performance already, I guess they will go with somebody else. Maybe Olivia, maybe somebody who has not premiered yet.

There is so much I could and want to say about it, but for me, it was flawless. I will leave it at that. It’s a perfect ending to an exceptional two-season show; if it comes back for a third season, I will still be ecstatic though. They tied up all loose ends and gave our characters the ending they deserved. Meryl Streep, Laura Dern and especially Nicole Kidman were the standouts in this episode. My god, that courtroom scene… I was speechless. Streep will deservedly win all the awards even if Dern would be my personal choice.
As for this season as a whole, it was highly necessary and pretty much impeccable. Season 1 was fresh and energetic, because no one knew what was actually happening to everyone else below the surface, which is why season 2 was much more depressing, because people started becoming open books. David E. Kelley’s scripts are masterclasses in storytelling and I will be damned if he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. Because he is just as good as the cast itself. And lordy, this cast is flawless. Everyone brought, absolutely everyone, even Kravitz and Woodley with very sparse screen time. But Kidman was still the standout, with Streep and Dern very, very close behind her. What she did in these final two episodes, and all others as well, is just incredible; Colman will have to deliver to top her for me.
This is honestly one of my favorite shows, ever, and it better get the recognition it deserves during awards season. I need to get busy, because I don’t see enough people talking about Kelley, and I need more people talking about Kidman.

They are officially tasteless.
