I loved the premiere. Nicole, Meryl, Zoey and Reese killed it. The things that are going with Madeline and her daughter are giving me Lori Loughlin vibes, and I can’t the only one. I’ll be very shocked in Mary Louise doesn’t kill someone by the time the season’s done.

I was a tad bit disappointed that Jane was sidelined. I was kind of expecting that but still would have liked to see more of her.

Someone’s thirsty. She’s gonna make history at next year’s Emmys by being the first person ever nominated in every leading actress category the same year. Good for her.

She still has a chance as producer. We don’t know how good her Aniston show will be and BLL might win drama next year, if The Crown does not as expected. If not BLL, her Octavia Spencer show could do the trick. She is becoming a producer powerhouse, that’s for sure. It won’t be long till she gets an Oscar nomination even I believe.

Should’ve already happened for Gone Girl but she might get her first this year for Lucy In the Sky. Searchlight already put out a trailer in March (the same they did for Three Billboards & Can You Ever Forgive Me?), they clearly have faith in it.

Why is The Crown considered as the frontrunner over BLL tho? Not saying I think BLL is winning but I’m legit wondering since it seems to be the consensus here. I guess one argument could be the time period of when the shows air, but since The crown seems to premiere this fall, it’s not that different compared to BLL.

The “Olivia Colman stan” bias is real on GoldDerby lol

I think its more a loose front runner because it appeared to be in second after last year’s ceremony and probably would have won the year before if THT hadn’t come along. We continuously learn though that calling wins over a year in advance rarely works, I mean even Veep and Game of Thrones aren’t locked to win this year

Maybe because BLL is still untested in drama categories?(Aside from PGA) Dunno. I’d put them on equal footing more or less within the acting branch, with The Crown having an advantage over it in Writing/Directing and the rest of the tech categories which may prove to be important when it comes to winning the top prize. BLL being so heavily women-centric probably won’t help it when it comes to Academy at large either, while The Crown’s historical weight will always give it an upper leg.

BLL’s trajectory might be similar to Downton Abbey’s which got exposure from its Miniseries wins for its first season, then everyone watched the s2, it dominated the acting categories with 2 lead and 4 supporting noms with Smith winning (equivalent of Streep) but failed to make a mark on other major categories.
