I can’t be the only fan of this riotous Netflix animated gem on the board. Season three is only building on the momentum of season two so far. I’m trying to limit myself to one episode a day because I don’t want to go through them too quickly. Episode 5, “Florida”, was a high point for the series as Nick accompanies the Gloubermans on a trip to visit relatives in the Sunshine State. From the opening, as Marty continues to kvetch over the credits (“Hurry up! We already know who’s in this thing! Mantzoukas? Too many letters.”) to the mixed signals Andrew gets from his hot cousin to Carol Kane as the Menopause Banshee to the little pyromaniac who wants to kill Nick to Connie the Hormone Monstress on the story of the burning bush (“Ooh! I’ve had that!”), every scene was stuffed with detail and jokes. Then it was all topped by Maury the Hormone Monster’s absolute genius takedown of Florida in song (“Come on baby, let the good times roll!/ If there’s a law, you can duck it/ If you catch it, you can fuck it/ It’s America’s glory hole!”). I still demand to know what happened to Nick Kroll’s voiceover performance Emmy nomination this past season.

Also loving the increased role for Matthew, since Andrew Rannells does such amazing voice work. The Coach Steve cameos with a different job each episode are working well, since that character is best in small doses. And the satire of society’s obsession with devices was also spot-on. This show is a minor masterpiece, so I’m thrilled Netflix has already renewed it for three additional seasons.

This show is brilliant and one of the funniest on tv. I need voice over Emmys for Maya and Nick like yesterday. With the way the TV Academy seems to only choose established programs for animated series, I could see this winning for season 4 or 5.
