This will be my last poll for acting. If anyone wants to do any others with other contenders with multiple nominees feel free to do so.
I voted Macfadyen. Just the sheer performance he gave despite not being a part of the key four (Cox, Culkin, Snook and Strong). It was both subtle and showy, both heartbreaking and terrifying. I mean that moment when he realised the similarities between what Greg was saying about an “open relationship” with his relationship with Shiv. Plus he’s so underrated and should already have been nominated for Howards End and Succession s1 and in Supporting Actor for Pride and Prejudice at the Oscars.
I swear if Braun ruins it for him :
BTW OTHER MEANS NONE HERE.

How come? Out of interest.

July 29, 2020 at 6:24 pm #1203613907Like I have always said, Matthew Macfadyen is ahead of Kieran Culkin for the fandom, so I cannot with the persisting odds order. What I did not anticipate was both Tom Pelphrey being snubbed and The Morning Show missing series, so Macfadyen now has upset potential over Billy Crudup.

You have actors nominated that had way too little to do (Wright, Esposito) over much better cast members or meh performances (Duplass, Braun) or performances that I consider fairly average at best (Crudup, Culkin, Whitford). Then I remember the Emmys snubbed people like Pelphrey and O’Connor on top of all this.
Macfadyen is the only one that is at least good and he is probably not even winning in the end.

May I ask why you’re predicting Colman to win but not Bonham Carter?

July 29, 2020 at 6:46 pm #1203613950Culkin. I didn’t expect his chemistry with J. Smith-Cameron to be that bananas.
ReplyCopy URLJuly 29, 2020 at 6:48 pm #1203613954I have said that I do not think that The Crown has the passion this year to win above the line. Will probably go back to predicting Laura Linney, but it is just hard to justify right now with Tom Pelphrey snubbed. I was predicting Jennifer Aniston before Linney, but I anticipated that The Morning Show would be catnip for the actors’ branch and it seems that Succession was instead, which is a very different direction. So I also have less faith in Aniston. I feel like Olivia Colman could win and it might not even have much to do with The Crown. They might just respect her like Regina King.

Love those Oh and Zendaya noms in Lead Actress. The latter’s nom was a very refreshing choice. The rest of the categories has its fair share of good nominees and not good ones as always.
As for winners, these noms were so messy that I can’t properly settle on anyone right now. I will say that the predicted winners being all white in the odds isn’t in tandem with how the nominations panned out and how the voters are thinking.

I would be inclined to agree but Colman has failed to win any of her Emmy nominations. Especially when she easily could have done so for The Night Manager.

Yeah, I’m also going with Kieran Culkin. If it’s two seasons of Succession we are looking at, then Culkin has the big edge here.
