I know it wasn’t perfect and many times voters voted for their friends but at least we know they have watched the tapes and if someone had an undeniable tape they won i.e. Martindale, Ivanek, etc. Do not even let them watch the tapes at home. Bring back blue ribbon panels. They have to watch the tapes. Yes, many times I didn’t like the results but at least I knew they have watched the tapes. This year’s ceremony was an absolute disaster. It was like watching Globes/SAG/Oscars. An absolute abomination. TPTB I’m begging you, bring it back!September 21, 2015 at 4:16 pm #362239
Angela Lansbury, Hugh Laurie, Steve Carell and many other emmyless will have know a emmy for sure.
In deed i prefer this system than the former one, but it is true that the esence of what the emmys were, it is somehow lost.September 21, 2015 at 5:11 pm #362240
What are you angry about? All award shows are about personal relationships, narratives, and subjective views on quality. The Emmys are no worse than anyone else.September 21, 2015 at 5:20 pm #362241
I don’t think the new system mattered. Like others have said before, Michael C. Hall, Frances Conroy, Steve Carrell, Angela Lansbury, Kim Cattrall, Elizabeth Montgomery- NEVER won Emmys, despite excellent tapes. It comes down to preference, the changing of the times. We live in the world of internet and blogs- which have big influence on voting decisions, I’m sure. It just depends.

Because I have every right to be angry. I like to know that people judge on things they’ve actually watched. I don’t have this privilege with other industry awards. Emmys were one of a kind, now they are just like the others. If you don’t like my opinion so be it. Or what I like to say, just piss off.September 21, 2015 at 5:36 pm #362243
First of all, never understood why Sasha needs to be so unpleasant.
That being said, I think she’s exactly right. The voting needs to go back to the old system with smaller voting panels. Maybe we wouldn’t all like the winners, but at least they would watch the tapes. If the tape system was still in place…
Still Would Have Won:
Julia Louis Dreyfuss
Might have won…but not a sure bet:
Probably would not have won:
Definitely wouldn’t have won:

Do you remember the year the blue ribbon panels were put in placeor the second year?…Two examples: Before screening The Sopranos episode for Drama Series something happen and nobody watched the episode. The Sopranos were still nominated. Another example when Will & Grace was about to be screen (according to reports on this very site) voters start to make sounds indicating their dislike for that show, they rejected before watching…If i remember well Will & Grace had the most nomination of any comedy but not comedy series nomination. That system brought some of the most bizarre nominations and wins including snubb for James Gandolfini, Eddie Falco and wins for Julia Louis Dreyfuss and Sally Field for the horrible Brothers & Sisters.September 21, 2015 at 5:46 pm #362245
^ I wasn’t unpleasant. I put smiley face after ‘piss off’ but unfortunately you still can’t see them on this site.September 21, 2015 at 5:56 pm #362247
While GOT and Veep are very deserving winners….. this year was so boring. Especially the movie mini categories. Seriously Olive sweeping is ridiculous. Bill winning is pretty stupid especially over Damien Lewis or Finn. I think this system should be destroyed.September 21, 2015 at 6:05 pm #362248
Tituss would have easily won under the old system. His tape just blew the competition away.
Allison Janney, JLD and Viola Davis still would have won with their tapes. Uzo Aduba could still have won; the race would have come down to Aduba vs Headey anyway.
Jon Hamm would have won. He may not have the strongest tape, but no one has ever had the overdue factor work in their favors like he did. The whole world knew he never won. It had been repeated year after year. I doubt how many people in the industry knew that Amy Poehler never won. She’s like the other Tina Fey. It’s easy to assume that she might have won something a long time ago.
Jeffrey Tambor could have won due to the importance of his role. But Anthony Anderson would emerge as a real threat.
Peter Dinklage wouldn’t have won. Jonathan Banks would have been the frontrunner with Ben Mendelsohn not far behind.September 21, 2015 at 6:32 pm #362249
BOOHOO Emmys got MOST right last night . It mostly comes down to preferences. Fvck single episodes No way should Banks win for 1 showcase in a multi episode series….Jeffery Tambor was winning that Emmy no matter what system .September 21, 2015 at 6:32 pm #362250

Yes. Bring it back so Modern Family can won again. Oh, God. The rage I could witness, if they won next year. LolSeptember 21, 2015 at 7:48 pm #362252
