Do we think Broadchuch will do well at next years Emmys? Should it go into series, or miniseries?August 6, 2013 at 2:53 pm #293488
Is Broadchurch being shown in America now? Cool! It was huge here in the UK. There was 8 eps so i don’t know what that qualifies for?
Also Olivia Colman best actress for the win.
They’re making a new series and i think they’re making an american version also?August 6, 2013 at 2:55 pm #293489
I came here to see if there was a thread for this; it’s currently in the 90s on Metacritic, which is pretty incredible when the buzziest shows this year The Americans, House of Cards, and Orange is the New Black were all in the 70s. Which makes me kinda excited for the premiere tomorrow.
I’ve only seen an ep or two of Dr. Who, with Matt Smith, so Tennant is mostly Barty Crouch Jr to me. And I only know Colman from The Iron Lady.
The US is already trying to rip this off after seeing the 34% share of the finale I guess.
Miniseries should definitely be an easier get, but it does have 8 eps and already has a 2nd season ordered so people might grumble if it somehow manages to clear the BBC America stigma. Unlike Maslany’s show.August 6, 2013 at 3:07 pm #293490
Olivia Colman has just won 2 TV BAFTAs (the emmy equivalent), and i’m sure she will win another for this next year. She is basically the most famous actress in the UK right now and i’d love to see her career take off in the US. She and Broadchurch really deserve to get emmy love. I hope the US likes it.August 6, 2013 at 7:08 pm #293491
Is it eligible?August 6, 2013 at 7:15 pm #293492
I had never heard of this, but this looks like a major contender.
I will have to watch this once I finish my Emmy watching, so probably in September?

I’m not sure, is there any reason it wouldn’t be?August 6, 2013 at 9:10 pm #293494
I just read People Magazine’s review of this show today while in the waiting room of my dentist office. It was the first time I have heard of this show, but People’s review wsa positive. I doubt I’ll tune in, but it does sound good.August 6, 2013 at 11:12 pm #293495
Broadchurch is excellent, it feels like The Killing but transmits the grief and social / police process much more realistic.
The last 3 episodes of the season are plain brilliant, Olivia Colman in the finale is riveting, while Tennant, Whitaker and Quirke have great moments too.
I guess that it’d be illegible in the Globes and the Emmys next year, so i give it great chances for recognition.August 7, 2013 at 11:19 am #293496
We in the U.S. get the first episode tonight, 10pm on BBC America (booo, same time as The Bridge)
Will have to DVR it, can’t ignore that massive Metacritic ratingAugust 8, 2013 at 9:38 pm #293497
I wasn’t very impressed by the show at first, but the second half did get much better.
Will there be another season?August 8, 2013 at 9:58 pm #293498

There saying that the second series might be a prequel, but there’s not really much confirmed about it. Is it airing weekly or bi-weekly in the US?
