We probably should wait to see the official submissions, but assuming Cranston goes with Ozymandias and taking into account that pretty much any episode is a good enough submission for Mcconaughey………discuss.
For all the breaking bad fans and Cranston lovers out there (me included), be objective. Who do you whink WILL win, not who do you Want to win.Marcus Snowden (The Artist Formerly Known as msnowden1)ParticipantMarch 25, 2014 at 6:34 pm #314320
McConaughey has so many winning submissions, it’s not even funny. I have trouble choosing what his possible Emmy episode submission will be. Cranston can kill, though, with “Ozymandias”. It’s his best performance in the entire series, IMO. Not to mention the fact that it is BB’s finally Emmy year and it has been cleaning up all over the awards circuit this year.March 25, 2014 at 6:37 pm #314321
I love both of them so this is a painful choice!
I assume too Cranston will go with Ozymandias, but if McConaughey goes with Who Goes There (in which he plays Rust as three different variations – older Rust, Rust 1995 and Crash), he’s unbeatable – it’s truly a tour de force and he has the added bonus of the 6 minute tracking shot which was not only a technical achievement, but an acting one too – imagine keeping up a complex performance with all the business he had to take care of.March 25, 2014 at 6:47 pm #314322
McConaughey is going to need to submit correctly. He has it locked if he goes with Haunted Houses or Form and Void.March 25, 2014 at 6:53 pm #314323
I’m a huge Cranston and Breaking Bad fan, but Matthew has the advantage here.March 25, 2014 at 6:56 pm #314324
My vote goes to Matthew, unfortunately, because eh doesn’t belong in this category, but… he will take it home, imo, he has the moment, and the tapes. Sorry Cranston.March 25, 2014 at 7:05 pm #314325
Matthew will win. I also think True Detective will win over Breaking Bad.March 25, 2014 at 7:07 pm #314326
He has the moment.
He hasn’t won anything for the role yet, vs. someone who’s won everything inc multiple times some places.
In terms of the 5 categories the general audience pays attention to the most, BB has the Drama edge so they could feel like spreading the wealth a bit.
And ain’t Cranston a producer on BB so can win regardless?March 25, 2014 at 7:11 pm #314327
I honestly don’t know which of the two will win. I think it’s a complete toss-up at this point.March 25, 2014 at 7:25 pm #314328
Cranston is my favorite TV actor of all time and “Ozymandius” is my favorite TV episode of all time.
But McConaughey will win because he’s McConaughey.

Matthew has all the momentum, but if he does something dopey like submit the pilot and Harrelson submits “The Secret Fate of All Life” then the latter will have a shot. In fact, though Matthew has flashier moments Harrelson has more complete tapes. Not counting out any three at this moment.March 25, 2014 at 7:45 pm #314330
I think that since he lost last year when he should have easily won suggests they don’t want to reward Cranston again. It’s also their only opportunity to reward McConaughey, who has 4 tapes that could win it for him. I think he should go with the 5th episode, but any one of them works. I think we also need to see how many nominations True Detective will recieve. I was one of the foolish ones who picked Arrested Development across the board last year. Look how that turned out.

My hunch is that it will be Harrelson. He’s built up an enormous amount of good will out here over the years, plus he has the scenes. (Does he ever!) He may be 2014’s Jeff Daniels.March 25, 2014 at 8:32 pm #314332

Cranston did not have a competitive tape last year. Jon Hamm and Damian Lewis had the best tapes and Daniels a very baity SPEECH.
It’s tough because it’s their last/only chance to award either, but I think Harrelson is better than McConaughey but in a less showy role. Hopefully they’ll both submit in lead. Harrelson has the most complete episodes, but we all know Emmy voters love their Oscar winners.
