I know this may seem silly considering both Maisel and Schitt’s are here but there seems to be lots of passion for the show and Issa Rae, it’s HBO’s main push and it is helped by the social situation. Plus it did quite well on nominations morning.

    What do we think?

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

Of course it can, every Black nominee has a higher chance now, maybe not Anthony Anderson and Don Cheadle, but all Black nominees with some real passion behind can win.

I know you’re really invested in the awards game and at the same time excited but you creating multiple threads at this point is kinda becoming spam.

And, to answer your question, no. Schitt’s is winning in a cakewalk. If you want us to get technical, it has support from all branches (actors, writers, directors).

Just because it got into all three branches it doesn’t mean it’s winning. Especially when Insecure can get into Supporting Actress ahead of an extra Maisel and Schitt’s actress and Maisel can get into Supporting Actor for a guest performance ahead of Noah Reid.

I think this year has placed Insecure in a good line to win in the future, but I think Schitts Creek has this in the bag

    FYC 2020 EMMYS

COMEDY- SCHITTS CREEK in all categories, Maya Rudolph, Eddie Murphy

DRAMA- Killing Eve in all categories, HBC, Cicely Tyson, The Crown in directing

LIMITED- UNBELIEVABLE, Normal People in writing and directing, Toni Collette, Tituss Burgess

    FYC OSCARS- Amy Adams

It can win cinematography and that’s it. But maybe they can win something bigger or even series for future seasons. I’m currently on series 3 and Issa Rae is fantastic, I hope she wins someday but I highly doubt she will have the egde over O’Hara this year.

You’re predicting Dead to Me and Applegate ahead of the show and Rae LMAO.

Even with the political situation considered?

    Uh-hum.

Maybe it can also win editing since it was nominated at ACE.

To answer the question though, I keep waiting for something to win series through passion ever since we moved to the plurality vote (Atlanta over VeepDrag Race over The VoiceThis is Us over The Handmaid’s TaleThe Americans over Game of Thrones) and it just never happens.  Passion indeed drives individual wins, but you still need broad consensus for series, which Insecure does not quite have, given its writing, directing and sound snubs.  I have it third.

Applegate got in over her last year

True, but now Applegate has to worry about vote splitting and her show completely underperformed missing easy noms like editing (which was nominated at the guild). Rae’s show has plenty of buzz and overperformed big, she’s easily ahead of Applegate and *maybe* Brosnahan.

    Are you serious?

If you’re saying Applegate is ahead of Rae because she got in over her last year then you should be considering Maisel and The Good Place ahead of Schitt’s in every category because they both got nominations in categories before Schitt’s did (which no one would because that would be crazy).

I mean Dead to Me got 4 nominations and failed to get Marsden in, Insecure got 8 and got nominated for Orji and Casting. I think it’s safe to say which one of Rae and Applegate are ahead. I mean it’s like saying Fiona Shaw is ahead of Sarah Snook.

Yeah, poor Don Cheadle, 4 out of 5 possible noms for a show that no one watched or cared for – House of Lies, and now 2 noms for another show that no on is watching or cares for – Black Monday, will he manage another two noms for it or Showtime will cancel it before that? What a great incognito.

“Drag Race” has won over “The Voice” multiple times on the plurality vote.
