Bergen famously withdrew her name from submission after winning five Emmys in seven consecutive nominations. Helen Hunt won the next year and thanked Bergen for her “generosity of spirit” (I cant find the clip online).

I read a long time ago that Bergen did submit again for season 10 of Murphy Brown in which her character gets cancer.

Obviously she didn’t get nominated, but can anyone confirm or deny with authority that she submitted that year?

    Thanks for help on this

I don’t think she submitted for season 10.  Because speculation has always been that had she submitted she would have won.   I’m fairly sure (but not 100%) that once she withdrew that was it for her.

Don’t mind Dresher’s nods. The Nanny isn’t classic, Then again, neither is Home Improvement or Cybil (Shepard I always thought was pretty weak on her series, especially campared to Baranski). It was however a cute and sometimes witty show in its first couple of seasons. Drescher was a fairly adorable lead before becoming unbearable in latter seasons.

Fran Drescher earned her nomination fair and sqaure. The Nanny was a pretty huge hit, was very popular with viewers and had a decent amount of critical support.  And Drescher was in particular getting great notices for how charming she was.
