It was first presented at the 76th Golden Globe Awards ceremony in January 2019 and is named in honour of its first recipient, actress and trailblazer Carol Burnett.

Who is next in line at the 77th Golden Globes in 2020.

One name comes to mind instantly:
    Betty White

    Others that should be considered:
    Ed Asner
    Candice Bergen
    James L. Brooks
    James Burrows
    Diahann Carroll
    Tim Conway
    Angela Lansbury
    Cloris Leachman
    Lorne Michaels
    Carl Reiner

Who else should be considered? Or who do you think is worthy?

Ryan Murphy. What he’s done with his shows over the past two decades is nothing short of stupendous.

He’s young. He has time (I’d say he’s in the same boat as JJ Abrams in regards to that). Right now, they have a lot of people they need to catch up with while they still can, like Dick Van Dyke and Angela Lansbury.

Also, Larry David definitely should be on that list as well.

Tomlin might, but DeGeneres and Lorre have time that a lot of tv legends don’t have.

Betty White is almost definitely next year’s winner

Betty White will probably get it, but I wouldn’t be surprised by Ed Asner, Norman Lear or Bob Newhart

Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.

God I hope Betty White will be in okay shape to accept the award. Her appearance at the Emmys this year was charming but heartbreaking

If Betty White doesn’t get it this year, I don’t think I’ll be able to handle the Globes anymore and their lack of love for talent.

I think Dick van Dyke could get it as well. Everyone loves him and Mary Poppins Returns reminded people that he’s still around.

Angela Lansbury would be my top choice. I don’t think Betty White is up for this kind of spectacle anymore with giving any acceptance speeches. I’d rather see her receive the Kennedy Center Honors instead.

Dick Van Dyke, Angela Lansbury, or Betty White please.

Now with 2 honorary awards I think we’ll see the HFPA choose one male and one female every year.

    Betty White or bust.

I still don’t understand why the award isn’t named after her instead.
