I thought iT was a good series but does not even touch Chernobyl in greatness. This story of race relations between Black and white in Cohen was already done in the people vs oj Simpson and far more compellingly. Performances were very very good.

There’s other means of DNA getting onto people and those boys would’ve 100% gotten that blood on them, and they didn’t. The Avery case comparison is ridiculous since the only thing they have in common is a Netflix show. If the only thing you read are DailyMail interviews and a highly criticized report that was notoriously made to cover the NYPD from accusations of corruption, then you are, quite frankly, the gullible one. This is just embarrassing.

No matter how much more enjoyable and entertaining The People vs. OJ was to watch (When They See Us isn’t meant to be), When They See Us is simply the better miniseries in every aspect.

I actually am all for the controversy surrounding this show. That means Chernobyl is winning because it’s not only a masterpiece and cultural phenomenon but also it’s gonna be considered a safe choice. So more of this mess, please.

The controversy won’t damage it. It may even help it if voters see it as a protest vote against Trump. When They See Us (story told by and from a rare African American perspective) would never have been a safe choice compared to Chernobyl even without any controversy.

    Paulson’s iconic performance disagrees

That’s exactly my point. That show’s dedication to serving campy, ‘iconic’ performances detracted from any deep commentary of the endemic injustice in American society. In comparison, When They See Us is unflinching.

Sarah paulson was not campy, when they see us just lost all the juice that Made this case stand out from the rest. After that iT just became a man in jail gets out of jail story. With wonderful performances though. Chernobyl was gripping from beginning to end with in Every episode a different side of the horror of the story. Maybe iT just resonated with me more. But Chernobyl is certainly the phenomenon HBO needed after GOT had ended, who had expected that

Exactly. It’s the first time I’m reading something like this. Vance and others might be, but Paulson?

I can tell you’re highly influenced by movies rather than actual people who were there. Where was this report “highly criticized?”

They paid for the crime so there isn’t much injustice now. Except the focus is on them rather than a woman who was sexually assaulted by multiple people.

The pre-trial hearings before the actual trial; the judge in the case did not find sufficient warranting to believe their confessions were coerced. Only one statement was inadmissible.

What’s embarrassing are people who don’t take the time to find out what actually happened rather than take the word of suspects crying racism. Oh and they acknowledged that they beat the other victims in the park too.

Lol, O.J. was not campy and it actually did have a lot to say, about racism, sexism, and so on. Paulson was a force to be reckoned with, and I won’t even argue about that. This and WTSU are incomparable, completely. Different stories, different lengths, different styles.

Emmy voters must bend the knee to Lena Headey & Emilia Clarke for "Game of Thrones." It's their last chance to award them. Make it happen.

First of all I’m not a stan. Check the Chernobyl thread and I was one of first to sing its praises before everyone else boarded the hype train. I don’t see what about my argument was baseless either.
Paulson was exceptional, but I don’t see why she’s even being brought up in this thread. Her performance doesn’t somehow make OJ better than When They See Us.

I am sorry but your comment reeks of snob-ism. You wouldn’t be calling this show ‘campy’ if  Ryan Murphy wasn’t associated with it. I don’t get why you guys see being entertaining and being politically & socially attentive as two mutually exclusive things.

I wasn’t referring to you necessarily.

I didn’t say OJ wasn’t socially attentive though. I said that some aspects (the random unnecessary Kardashian scenes, the OJ and Shapiro castings, some of the writing) detracted from it. As Luca said they’re completely different experiences, but on a filmmaking level When They See Us was cinematic in a way that OJ wasn’t.
