I knew this movie would land on TV and Lifetime is a perfect fit for it. HBO has also movie about Blanco in the works with J.Lo starring but something tells me that movie isn’t gonna be ever made because of J.Lo’s busy schedule. So do you think Zeta Jones will make history and become the first Lifetime woman to win an Emmy for leading role? That would be something.Riley (the normal one, not the one who won the predictions contest)ParticipantMay 18, 2017 at 2:56 pm #1202096548
“Lifetime Greenlights ‘Cocaine Godmother’ Starring Catherine Zeta-Jones”
Of course.May 20, 2017 at 6:38 pm #1202098039
I first saw the headline for this and thought “great role for Zeta-Jones. Very much in the vein of traffic”. Then I saw this is for Lifetime. Oh.May 20, 2017 at 8:12 pm #1202098101
Initially believed this was an indie theatrical. Who knew they’re going straight to the dumps with this as a Lifetime movie.May 20, 2017 at 8:31 pm #1202098117
Griselda Blanco “Cocaine Godmother ” was a Colombian drug lord. I love Catherine Zeta-Jones but she is Welsh….. They should’ve cast a latina/hispanic actress. This is goin’ to flop.May 20, 2017 at 8:45 pm #1202098128
Every other year Lifetime puts out something that nabs an acting Emmy nod or two. But I doubt that will be the case with this one, especially with that title.May 20, 2017 at 8:48 pm #1202098133

Jones’ ethnic appearance makes her an easy go to for Hispanic and Latina roles. Anthony Hopkins is also Welsh and doesn’t look ethnic at all.June 28, 2017 at 1:29 am #1202135293
And the Emmy goes to:July 2, 2017 at 1:21 pm #1202139749
Yeah, the make up looks great! And honestly I expect her to give brilliant performance. Maybe she could achieve what legends Sigourney Weaver and Cecily Tyson couldn’t? Win leading actress Emmy for Lifetime movie. That would be something! And I don’t see any competition for her next season. And people behave like all Lifetime movies are crap. No they aren’t. Once in a while they make good movies (or buy them). And performances in some of them are out of this world good (Weaver).July 2, 2017 at 1:55 pm #1202139780
It depends. The director (Navarro) doesn’t seem very Lifetime friendly. We’ll see…July 2, 2017 at 6:46 pm #1202139885
As soon as people start paying attention beyond casting this project will be dead in the water. The internet will not look kindly on this kind of whitewashing. There is no reason to cast Zeta-Jones as a latina woman.July 2, 2017 at 8:05 pm #1202139927

I thought the title was really stupid too, this just seems like something people will mostly overlook even if it’s great. Zeta-Jones isn’t exactly a huge name anymore either, I don’t think she’s someone the emmys just can’t wait to nominate.July 2, 2017 at 8:29 pm #1202139931
I’m waiting for the J-Lo HBO movie about this. Funny story, I was watching the THR roundtable when she was campaigning for Shades of Blue and everybody was asking the other actresses about acting methods, and nobody would ask her about acting stuff, even though I could tell she was trying to be taken seriously. And then at the end they asked what the first big spend was when you becAme famous, and everybody told J-lo they wanted to hear what hers was. Tht was the first time they gave her the spotlight. And J-lo said “Yall were asking each other about acting and now you want my opinion?”. After watching that I knew she wanted to be taken seriously as an actor. And right after it was announced she was staring in an HBO movie. I really want that to succeed because I am rooting for her. But it seems like it won’t come together.July 3, 2017 at 2:16 am #1202140281
I still doubt she wins but a nomination is guaranteed at this point.
