Hoping Schitt’s Creek over-performs in nominations, and gets some wins (at LEAST O’Hara) to commemorate its outstanding run. If Fleabag can sweep as a tribute to both of its seasons, I hope SC can too.

Hoping Schitt’s Creek over-performs in nominations, and gets some wins (at LEAST O’Hara)

As someone who actively dislikes Schitt’s Creek and finds its pacing boring and an active chore to watch.

In spite of this O’Hara is absolute diamond in the show. Her energy is thrilling to watch on screen.

Her pronunciation of “baby” alone is Emmy-worthy.

What do we think about Kirsten Dunst? I keep wanting to take her out of my predictions, but something always stops me.

Showtime has always been great at getting Lead nominations (they got Don Cheadle last year for a show that had zero buzz for crying out loud), and Becoming a God got good reviews, but it’s already been a while since the premiere and the show might be forgotten. I’m not sure if Dunst has the power to just be a name-check yet the same way Cheadle probably was. But then again, people do like Dunst, and she’s got the reviews and acclaim to back it up. I wouldn’t count the SAG snub against her, as her show wasn’t super popular or on Netflix (the two things you kind of need to be nominated there).

It probably all comes down to how Showtime campaigns her, but what are your guys’ thoughts? I think I’m keeping her in for now, but I’m not sure…

As someone who watched the show she definitely deserves to win let alone nominated. I would say she is currently a lock for nomination but it might change based on how spring shows (Run, Dead To Me, The Great, Pen15) perform.

Showtime could not make Jim Carrey happen for a respected summer show and they are not going to make Kirsten Dunst happen.

I am losing faith in Schitt’s Creek. Passion increasingly rules the day at the Emmys, but it was not that long ago that Atlanta and Transparent failed to topple the juggernaut at the time. Schitt’s Creek has the additional barrier of not being prestige, so we might be fundamentally overvaluing its potential.

I think Schitt’s Creek depends heavily on its finale if it wants to be taken seriously in the race. Because it’s all well and good having a great final season but if the finale lands flat then it’s worth nothing. A great finale could send it into the frontrunner position. Whether it would last or whether it would end up like Veep however (although that had an otherwise less than adored final season) is another matter.

I just watched the last two episodes of S2 of Kidding and this show deserves some recognition at the Emmys…

Atm I see Schitts Creek taking both lead categories and Maisel taking both supporting.

I think this might be the year for new comedies like Run, PEN15, Better Things, Space Force and Ramy

If I’m not wrong, Schitt’s Creek was helped a lot last year by the tour they did. They are doing it again this year, the Farewell Tour, which is an FYC event all across America. Basically, the two frontrunners are a show doing huge FYC campaign during voting and a show that will have aired more than a half a year earlier. That is, of course, unless we get a new strong contender.

Jon Hamm seems like a good choice for Guest Actor. He was trending on Twitter, people seemed to love him last night on Curb.

Curb has been doing well in the category recently and Jon Hamm has been nominated 4 times for his notable appearances across Tina Fey’s shows. Outside of the SNL people he seems the safest for a nom.

I also wonder if (depending on the reception of) What We Do in The Shadows S2 could potentially get recognition in the writing category.

    Don’t forget Luke Kirby.
