After a strong opening debut for Dead To Me S2, it could move up to be a frontrunner for some major categories.

I think it’ll get into series, lead actress, maybe writing and maybe editing (or not?), but I definitely don’t see it winning anything. Applegate would be hella deserving, but this is O’Hara’s year.

Emmys FYC - "Unbelievable" and "The Handmaid's Tale" in all categories; Viola Davis in Best Drama Actress for the final season of "HTGAWM;" "Ozark:" Drama Series, Laura Linney (Best Actress) and Julia Garner (Best Supporting Actress)

    but this is O’Hara’s year.

I’m not sure why O’Hara is that undeniable for the win? Applegate and Brosnahan could both take it imo.

Kate McKinnon should be dropped, I want to see more inspired choices. She is like the mandatory multicam slot in the directing race.

    I don’t think it’s impossible

Honestly this feels like a narrative people have created and have been pushing down to people’s throat for months when there have been no signs of Schitt’s Creek or her being THAT strong. It was not even the show SAG voters chose to award in Ensemble over Fleabag despite popular belief.

Why does Brosnahan need another win? That’d be super lazy with a category likely filled with worthy performances. Especially since Maisel/her performance didn’t get a bump in buzz, acclaim, or visibility to warrant it.

Applegate will be a contender, but (IMO) she’ll be let down by Dead to Me being well-received but not substantially so. In a battle of the Passion Vote, I think O’Hara and Schitt’s are a nose ahead.

Why does Brosnahan need another win?

Cause she gives a great performance?

I’m rooting for O’Hara all the way, but Brosnahan is still turning in a win worthy performance.

All I really need is for both Christina and Linda to be nominated for Dead to Me. If for some reason Linda misses, I will be very, very disappointed. Please just give her the nom she already deserved last year!

This has nothing to do with what I said… I just pointed out that Brosnahan and Applegate are both strong contenders. Rachel’s chances are obviously not affected by you thinking she doesn’t need a second Emmy.

Honestly, I still think Applegate is stronger and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cardellini miss again. To be clear, I am predicting them both at the moment but I still think it’s possible. It would be a very Grace & Frankie type situation. Both are well respected industry vets (like Fonda and Tomlin) but Applegate is a clear Emmy favorite, having been nominated across three different programs (including a win). Cardellini has had other opportunities to get nominated, namely Bloodline, that failed to materialize.

“Streaming of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘s third season more than doubled the level for Season 2, according to new figures released Tuesday by Nielsen.

The measurement firm’s SVOD Content Ratings, which looks at connected-device viewing in the U.S. only, said the show recorded the highest number of any Amazon Prime Video show it has rated thus far.

The first episode of Season 3 of Mrs. Maisel brought in an average minute audience of more than 2.1 million on its first day (December 6), up from the previous season’s first episode, which drew 972,000 on Day 1. Across all episodes on premiere day, Season 3 drew more than 600,000 viewers, compared with 240,000 for Season 2.

On a full-week basis, the first episode of Mrs. Maisel‘s new season, which takes the characters on the show-biz road as its title character plays Las Vegas and Miami, reached about 5.5 million viewers.

In terms of average viewership by day, Season 3 of Mrs. Maisel had an average minute audience of 3.2 million viewers across its first seven days, eclipsing the nearly 2 million recorded by Season 2.”
