Voters can select as many nominees to vote for as they want, so if they love Schitt’s Creek this year, who is to say they just don’t check off all of its actors’ names on their ballot?

And with 8 nominees in Supporting, why can’t the show take up 2-3 noms if it’s a leading contender for Best Comedy Series??

    Eugene Levy – Likely
    Catherine O’Hara – Likely
    Dan Levy – Likely
    Annie Murphy – Likely

    Noah Reid – Maybe
    Chris Elliot – Maybe
    Emily Hampshire – Maybe

    Dustin Milligan – Could be
    Victor Garner – Could be

I wonder how much support SNL has lost over the past few years and if we are gonna see SNL performers take up some of the extra slots. I put Bryant and Thompson back in for now.

I hate to utter the words but…should we be considering Baldwin?

I think we should consider Baldwin (I slipped him into a line up of 8). We saw just last year in the Drama categories how contenders who had won previously or were contenders on the bubble who got snubbed get in like Viola Davis and Mandy Moore. I can only imagine the same is going to happen this year and that we’ll have a show that will be the 2019  GoT of the acting field in Comedy this year (I bet on that being Maisel), a show that will be the Killing Eve, a show that will be the This is Us and a show that will be the Ozark. I was anticipating the show to be the This is Us to be The Good Place but I wonder if that show in acting will be like Killing Eve last year (two leads + one supporting) and SNL will end up being the This is Us (previously multi winning network acting player who had a bad year but increases nominations haul due to lack of competition).

FYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")

That’s seems very hypocritical as your predicting Succession to get 7 acting noms, going from Zero to Seven. Schitts got SAG ensemble nomination plus two acting noms last year. I don’t think anyone’s actually predicting 9 for SC anyway. I have O’Hara, Levy, Murphy, Levy, Reid, Hampshire.

I’m not predicting Succession to get 7 acting noms 🙂

I have a feeling that even if O’Hara grabs Actress that Maisel is going to grab Series. It literally won the most Emmys of any Comedy Series last year and with its SAG ensemble repeat I can only imagine that it was THIS close to Fleabag in the Series race.

Whilst I can understand people predicting Hampshire and Reid I think it’s a mistake to predict Schitt’s maxing out in noms whilst not predicting Maisel to max out in noms. As I said earlier it’s reminding me of how people were predicting things like Better Call Saul to get Seehorn in Supporting Actress when GoT just got 4 Supporting Actress slots anyway last year.

I wouldn’t put too much emphasis on the Ensemble prize at SAG. After all both Orange is the New Black and Downton Abbey won 3 each and never went onto series wins for their recognised seasons.

Hades will freeze over before SC gets 9 acting nominees.

Yes but unlike Orange is the New Black and Downton Abbey, Maisel has already won Series and a bucket load of writing, directing and acting trophies.

I mean the show was probably second last year. Who’s to say that it isn’t first this year?

I don’t see how Maisel loses when it will probably take Writing, Directing, the techs, and possibly multiple acting awards again. The closest competition is probably Schitt’s Creek and I can only see that taking 1-2 acting wins (if that, because Maisel is extremely loved by actors and overdue narratives flopped a bunch last year) and maybe Writing (as a consolation prize for Levy).

It has a bucketload of acting trophies, yes. Hence it won SAG.

Also Downton technically won a series award for its first season too.

Not saying it isn’t the frontrunner just that it beating Fleabag at SAG when they favour bigger casts and repeat winners is not the reason.

I guess it’s my bad I didn’t mention this earlier but it’s not only the fact that it beat Fleabag in ensemble at SAG. There is also the fact that Shalhoub beat Scott at SAG despite Scott having lots of momentum to win and probably being Shalhoub’s biggest competition for the winter award ever. I mean if Borstein wasn’t nominated at SAG who is to say Brosnahan couldn’t have overcome Waller-Bridge?

I’m not saying Maisel is a lock for the Series win but I think it is being heavily underestimated here. I’ve seen people make comparisons between its s2 performance and THT’s s2 performance which really doesn’t make sense when it literally won 16 Emmys in the space of two years and could very well bring that tally up to 24 this year.

Also the Downton comparison doesn’t make much sense when Downton never had seven acting Emmy nominations when it won at SAG or four acting Emmy wins in the most competitive year on its side at the Emmys in recent history.

I think theres a good chance that The Good Place takes Lead Actor/Writing. Maisel will still probably take Series though.

Have a great day if you see this!

Imo it’s likelier that Maisel get all 4 supporting actors in (Zegen, Brown, McClain and Shalhoub) than SC gets Reid or Elliot in

It does matter regarding acting noms/wins though. Especially considering SC couldn’t even get Eugene Levy in.

It does also matter quite a bit when Shalhoub probably won last year due to vote splitting between the Barry and Kominsky guys and still won this year even though Bill Hader was right there.
