Lea Michele’s been known as a huge diva for years amongst people that follow Broadway gossip. She’s the real-life Jenna Maroney.

    God, I miss her!!!!

Don’t see why Michele’s actions should change the fact that I thought she was Emmy worthy for both Glee and Scream Queens at differing points in their runs. Just because we have it confirmed that she’s the diva we always knew she was doesn’t change how great those performances were. I guess the only difference is that I’m now not rooting for her to get any make-up nods/wins in the future. Also, as much as it probably should be, I don’t think it’s a career ended for her. The fact that Amber Riley has come forward and said she wasn’t racist just awful has probably saved her as it stops her being completely unhirable. It does mean she’s gonna have to give up on being Elphaba in the wicked movie though lol

    I agree.

I guess they might as well just cast Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel again lol.

    Re: Lea Michele issue

If I understand correctly, Lea shared a #blacklivesmatter post on her page, to which a black colleague mentioned that she treated her ugly behind the scenes. And then several joined (both white and black actors) that Lea was a diva on set. I don’t understand why this should end Lea’s career. Amber Riley and Heather Morris also acknowledged her rudeness during shooting, but they both defended the actress that it was not directed against a race, but fundamentally against her colleagues. So Lea Michele is not a racist, just a diva. Like many others. Twitter’s overflowing push to “cancel” artists is a bit boring for me.

I don’t see anyone wanting to cancel Joaquin Phoenix because he was a jerk in many movie sets with others. Or that anyone would want to cancel Jon Hamm, who physically and sexually harassed a pledge as a college student. Kevin Hart, on the other hand, has made homophobic statements, but he’s still being cast in every second comedy films. Should I mention the way Felicity Huffman was made a devil by the media while her husband was not criticized for the same? Like don’t tell me Huffman did it by herself, it’s just that they had clearer evidence against her criminal actions, so she was charged. Why is this kind of “hatred” directed only at women?

Lea behaved ugly, apologized, and I hope she learned from the situation. But beyond that, I don’t understand why she should be chased out of Hollywood forever. It makes no sense.

I understand why she should be chased out but I don’t if the men aren’t also.

    I really don’t, though.

Hollywood divaism has been always a thing. I assume you would have also chased out Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, right? They were way meaner to each other and others than Lea ever was to her Glee colleagues, I can guarantee you that.

You don’t watch TV shows, nor films because you see angelic people in them. They are actors, not your friends. Until they are rapists or murderers, I couldn’t care less about their personal lives. I don’t choose them to be my role models.

I think it’s safe to say that Maisel is going to overperform across the board and possibly even checked off everywhere (even in writing which we are underestimating it in).

Although I am interested in the performance of three comedy series this year.

Schitt’s Creek could get all of O’Hara, E. Levy, D.Levy, Murphy, Hampshire, Reid, Elliot, Milligan, Garber, Writing and Directing or it could just get O’Hara, E. Levy, D. Levy and Writing. I’m currently predicting Schitt’s to get O’Hara, both Levys, Murphy, Writing and Directing but I am hesitant on its chances in the last category.

The Good Place has underperformed outside of Rudolph and Danson for a while but it broke through in writing last year and considering it is one of the more familiar comedies in this race it will be interesting to see if it just gets the same nominations as last time (plus a second writing nom) or if it can get Bell, Carden, Harper, Jamil and Kudrow in plus directing. I’m currently (like with Schitt’s Creek) predicting in between these two situations.

Finally The Great could either explode on nominations day and get into Series, Actress, Actor, Writing and Directing or could get shut out completely. I am actually leaning towards the best case scenario for The Great as I am finding it difficult to believe that with its strong buzz (particularly word of mouth buzz), high reception from audiences and critics and two Hollywood stars fronting it and the Academy Award nominated writer of The Favourite behind it that it will get shut out.

If any of these three shows explode on nominations day I can easily see them being viable for wins against Maisel (maybe not in Guest Actor or Supporting Actress though).

FYC Emmys : Jodie Comer ("Killing Eve"), Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials"), Russell Tovery ("Years and Years"), Helena Bonham Carter ("The Crown") & The Crown, His Dark Materials, Years and Years, Succession and The Affair in all categories. With each day I’m getting more conviced that The Great is a lock for comedy series. I’ve seen a lot people praising this show on twitter and Imdb proves that it is being watched.

I agree, I really hope this doesn’t affect Michele’s career. I hope it makes her assess her behaviour and treat people with respect, but “diva” behaviour seems to be celebrated by certain people in Hollywood- Ryan Murphy especially seems to love outspoken, strong willed women. Lea being horrible to people for no reason was likely amusing to people on set of Glee (where her character did often times behave the way Lea is being accused of ). And I’m sorry, the thought of seeing her stomp on a girls foot and burp loudly into her face just cracks me up!

She was a diva and was allegedly mean to several people. It seemed her behaviour was directed at people of all colours though.

This is the part where I really show my ignorance (I have tried to Google it and asked my family and none of them have a clue as to the answer) but I’m not from America and dont have any black friends or a large black community where I am from; can somebody please explain to me why Michele threatening to defecate in a wig was seen as a racial attack? The actress she said it to had to wear a big wig for the role, her hair was a defining feature of the character.

Would Michele saying what she did not just be seen the same as any old insult to offend the girl? Is it simply because women of colour would often wear wigs in general that what Lea said was taken as a racial slur? The comments online unanimously agree that the wig remark was a racial micro aggression and was purposeful and unacceptable. It left me questioning why I didn’t understand the offense and the people I have asked have been as clueless as me.

After the humongous rotten egg that ‘Run’ laid, you mods are STILL predicting Merritt Wever to get a nomination in lead actress? Really? If you’re jonesing that much for her to get noticed by the Emmys, then Unbelievable will be her virtual chariot.

Downplaying a decade of abusive sociopathic behavior as run of the mill diva behavior is a choice. Broadway still works with divas. When even they didn’t want anything to do with Lea and see her as toxic poison long before any of this came out, you know her career is inactive for a reason. She would have to show years if not decades of decent human behavior in the smallest side parts anyone pity throws at her before rest of the industry gives her decent parts. Her apology doesn’t mean anything unless it’s backed by actual provable change.

Schitt’s is NOT going to put Hampshire, Reid, Elliot, Milligan OR Garber in supporting/guest. They’ll get Murphy and be happy with that. The Great; thing is, how well have costume epics fared in comedy?

I just can’t believe that after dominating twitter in the U.S., Canada and worldwide on the night of the finale (without a pandemic causing all of us to binge-watch anything we can get our hands on), The Good Place is poised to ruin a lot of people’s July 28ths. They get in with Series, Danson, Bell, a puncher’s chance for Harper and Carden (to make up for her criminal snub last year), Rudolph, Kudrow and Olyphant in guest, Whenever You’re Ready for writing AND directing, all available techs and maybe they can eke out a dozen nominations in broadcast network comedy’s last stand at the Emmys. Thing is, Maisel, the ultimate sugary confection with enough floaty atmosphere to sustain the Milky Way galaxy, will get another season to collect hardware. TGP won’t. In an ideal world, this is the way the story rolls.

While the statement above is ridiculous in a lot of way, I actually do expect The Good Place to over perform on nominations day. I have it in for lead actress, lead actor, supporting actress, series, writing and directing.

Theres a lot to remark on with this, but I find it baffling how you’re still pushing for Timothy Olyphant’s one scene cameo.

Anyway, if any comedy series is going to benefit from a “this is their last chance” mentality, it’s Schitt’s Creek.
