I will not tolerate people who post pictures of irrelevant things as replies to my posts. I’ve never done it regularly to anyone on here and I demand the same basic courtesy. Vinny is now in permanent ignore timeout.

What if it is a picture from the Good Place?

With everyone arguing about The Good Place vs Maisel and Schitt’s Creek, I just wanna say… FYC: Insecure.

I actually think Insecure could end up being ahead of The Good Place.

Comedy is a mess. I mean it’s hard to choose between Hampshire and Orji in Supporting Actress because one’s show could have more buzz in that category than the other.

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", AMANDA SEYFRIED FOR "MANK", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

I disagree about the idea of Orji possibly being ahead of Hampshire. Schitt’s Creek will definitely be the bigger contender which we’ve already seen has better actor support. Even before I started watching Schitt’s Creek, I heard a lot more about Hampshire than Orji. I’m not saying that she can’t get in, as her show and performance is gaining hype, but I think she’s fighting for the eight slot, while Hampshire still would’ve made the cut in a group of six.

Reminder that Guest2018 being annoying doesn’t take away the fact that the Good Place finale is one of the most acclaimed TV episode of the past season

Agreed, wonderful finale, it’s my personal pick for Outstanding Writing and Danson for Lead Actor, although I will caveat that with the fact I haven’t seen Schitt’s Creek yet. So it could easily change.

I agree that we shouldn’t let Guest’s stanning distract from The Good Place’s quality, but I will say, even though I very much enjoyed the last two seasons, I believe the show peaked in the second season, and the one competing this year was noticeably the weakest of its run.

Looking good for Mike Schur to get The Good Place a writing win.

Does The Good Place finale winning writing count as a win for Carrie Coon in The Leftovers…? 😅

I’m sorry but why is this user still allowed to be here when he disrespects and call names other members when other people have been banned for way less?

I agree with this. There is one thing to have a difference of opinion which will happen on this site, but this is going too far.

I hate to go back to the discussion about actors like Reid, Hampshire and Carden, but I have a counterpoint to people highlighting their weaker material this season. I think with a lot of shows, especially SC and TGP who found extra love on delayed platforms like Netflix, not all voters are aware of exactly which season they’re voting for.

Thus, at least for the nominations phase, voters could vote for Carden for her strong work in Season 2 and 3 even if her material isn’t on the same level in the relevant season; and Reid and Hampshire’s superb work in Season 5 of Schitt’s Creek could get them votes even if they’re not given nearly enough to do in the final season (I mean Reid has the coming out and Proposal, and Hampshire is great in her Cabaret arc).

So it’s possible that a significant amount of voters are not voting for the season at hand during this nomination phase and this a strong previous season can help them regardless of whether the GD forum users feel its deserving. This can extend to many actors but thought it especially relevant with these three.

I do think because TGP found its popularity through Netflix, that voters who are watching S3 this season have been impressed by Carden (her best season).

Have a great day if you see this!

To be fair, Reid does an absolute killer tape in the dental surgery episode.

Every time I started that episode (I’ve watched the season three times, don’t judge) I thought: oh yay, Reid gets to act out this episode, but every time I was underwhelmed by both the limited scenes he gets and what he actually does. ‘Usually rigid character gets teeth removed and acts slurred and childish while high’ is sitcom cliche and he doesn’t elevate it beyond there.

I agree it’s likely to be his tale if nominated because of range but I still Think Levy is better in that same episode and category, and prefer Reid’s more typical moments like him defending David’s honour in “The Incident” or being flushed by the carpenter and wearing that tight shirt. I know they’re not as baity or BIG but prefer the character being Ernest.

If I was a voter, I personally would have been won over by Reid after watching Open Mic and would have marked him for nomination then and there.

As someone mentioned above, many voters will probably discover the show including season 4 and 5 for the first time…which has to bode well for him.

I’m just nervous for him because IMO his first good episode where he gets decent material is actually Season 3 Episode 12. But again, it might not matter since voters will probably binge the entire show in one go.
