I think every Supporting Actor submitted for Maisel is ahead of Zegen.

FYC Emmys : THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL, SUCCESSION AND THE CROWN IN ALL CATEGORIES. Tony Shalhoub ("Maisel"), Cate Blanchett ("Mrs. America"), Matthew Macfadyen, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook ("Succession"), Tracey Ullman ("Mrs. America") and Louis Gossett Jr. ("Watchmen")

I think we might be giving Maisel too much credit. Yes, the actors obviously love that show, and yes, it’s going to get a ton of supporting acting noms, but also the Game of Thrones comparison is hyperbolic. I understand the easy connection in that both shows are juggernauts with low competition, but nonetheless Maisel is obviously not GOT popularity, which I know that everybody understands. However, what I think we may be missing is how the GOT sensation and hype machine could’ve transferred to voter support, like how Sophie Turner and Gwendoline Christie went past being fan favorites into legitimate celebrities. That is not the same for Michael Zegen nor Leroy McClain. I could be wrong, but I guess what I’m trying to articulate is that I think Maisel is beloved enough for Borstein and Shaloub to be far and away the most checked off during the nomination stage, but not adored enough to ensure most voters who watch Maisel are remembering the other contenders. Of course, the antithesis to this is that Sterling K Brown and Jane Lynch are already names so actors will remember them.

This would be correct had this not been the same acting branch who checked off Rufus Sewell along with Luke Kirby last year.

If Alfie Allen can happen for GoT, then TMMM can make McClain happen with more slots. I don’t believe in Hsu and Zegen though. Their impact is minimal at best and their storyline is largely isolated from the more interesting and stronger characters.

Still watching Schitt’s Creek, currently on season 5, but one thing I need to say how amazing Alexis is and grand part of this is Annie Murphy performance. I was already ready to love Moira and everyone has a special charm but Alexis is becoming my favorite character. I don’t know how good she is in the final season, but she deserve recognition for her work.

Annie Murphy is amazing in the final season and is easily the MVP imo.

Alfie Allen was way overdue for a nomination. LeRoy McClain is not.

    Hsu isn’t on the ballot.

That was a thing largely among fan circles from my experience so I doubt it had any significant impact.

    Hsu isn’t on the ballot.

Good to know. She was sweet but it’d be a wasted nomination.

The presenters get snubbed more often than not so wouldn’t go changing my predictions quite yet…

If the number of votes for these nominees are replicated across the board then these will be the Gold Derby Drama Episode of the Year nominees (counted from a sample of 100 Ballots) :

It’s Comedy or Cabbage, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
A Jewish Girl Walks Into the Apollo, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
    Happy Ending, Schitt’s Creek
Whenever You’re Ready, The Good Place
    The Great, The Great
The View From Halfway Down, BoJack Horseman

    Things Taken From Ballots :

    • Happy Ending is the ONLY lock here and is the clear frontrunner. Both episodes of Maisel are quite likely but seem to be vote splitting (although they have a mammoth of a voting tally when it comes to a combined total)
    • BoJack Horseman and Schitt’s Creek could get both their episodes in.
    • Marvelous Radio is a non factor here (fans of Maisel generally tend to prefer It’s Comedy or Cabbage or A Jewish Girl Walks Into the Apollo).
    • Maisel fans tend to check off every single performer and episode.
    • Insecure has A LOT of love.
    • There is a lot of love for Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.
    • There is a lot of love for The Great.
    • There is a lot of love for the Modern Family finale.
    • The Good Place is in trouble in some categories and is second/frontrunner in others.
    • There is almost zero love for Silicon Valley.
    • Better Things is 50/50.
    • If the choices chosen by GD voters are at all similar to that of Emmy voters then The Great, Maisel and Schitt’s are going to explode.
    • Potential spoilers include Schitt’s Creek (Moira Rose), BoJack Horseman, The Politician (Vienna), Insecure, Modern Family (Finale), GLOW (A Very GLOW Christmas) and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.
    • Happy Ending > Moira Rose
    • Maisel is HUGE. Schitt’s is too!
    • It’s hard to tell how The Good Place will perform.
    • No Kristen Bell on the most ardent of TGP fan ballots.

FYC Emmys : THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL, SUCCESSION AND THE CROWN IN ALL CATEGORIES. Tony Shalhoub ("Maisel"), Cate Blanchett ("Mrs. America"), Matthew Macfadyen, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook ("Succession"), Tracey Ullman ("Mrs. America") and Louis Gossett Jr. ("Watchmen")
