JLD is on 5 wins in a row now which is already the record. While she could win again, I’m sure there are certainly some people itching to reward someone else, and I’m wondering if Drew Barrymore could have that shot.

    Pros:
    – She’s a movie star (maybe hasn’t been for a while, but she’s still a big name, and a previous emmy nominee)
    – The show is on Netflix who has been killing it with the emmy’s lately
    – She has the performance (imo at least). It’s definitely a little rough in the first episode, but just make it to the second and it’s such a transformation. She is absolutely hilarious, frequently makes me laugh out loud (and Timothy Olyphant is also great, theyre a really good team)
    – She’s on a freshman show

    Cons:
    – The show doesn’t really have a ton of buzz right now, but it did only just come out
    – It’s very gory, which could prove to be a little divisive
    – Tracee Ellis Ross, who I think is JLD’s only other real competition at the moment with the love for Blackish growing by the year
    – The season for Veep hasn’t come out yet, and while the major creative change could be a let down it could also totally revitalize the show

    What do you guys think?

She is not a good actress.  Her show has 67 on Metacritic.  Case closed.  (Will she even be nominated?)

The first 3 episodes of the show were pretty fun, but after that it suffered a massive downfall in quality – almost making Barrymore a supporting player, oddly enough, focusing more on Olyphant. That said, thanks to a popular vote, I actually think it’ll be easier for Barrymore to win but it’ll be much harder for her to be nominated.

Someone who does deserve to beat JLD: Kaitlin Olson of “The Mick”. She has at least 3 very strong episodes to choose from, with this past weeks quite possibly being her best.

I don’t even see a Golden Globe nomination happening.

Yeah a nomination for her is almost impossible. If anyone with bad reviews is beating her that will be SJP who, just like Barrymore, is on the edge of not being nominated.

I love Drew Barrymore, but I dont see this happening. I doubt she’ll land a nomination either…. If anyone can take down Julia, I think it will be Tracee Ellis Ross who is hysterical on “blackish”, just won a Globe and another NAACP Image Award and has had another great season and strong buzz for her fantastic show… We’ll see.

I also think Tracee Ellis Ross is the most likely actress to finally take Julia down (if it ever even happens). Maybe a very tiny chance for Ellie Kemper if they decide they suddenly really like UKS, but that’s starting to seem like a show that gets a handful of nominations but never wins.

I am actually bing stupid. I know this is unlikely: but if she gets in- I will predict Gina Rodriguez to win.

I know it’s unlikely, but Maslany got in on the third try. There is also open space in the category. She definitely has the passion vote.

If she gets In she could easily win because of that passion vote. Her fan base loves her. That same passion vote allowed upsets to happen for Kate McKinnon, Ben Mendolson, Louis Anderson, RuPaul, and Tatiana Maslanay.

I know it seems unlikely- I have her in my last position to get nominated- but I really think she could upset if she gets in.

    TBH she deserves 2 already

Ha! No. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a behemoth. Drew Barrymore is a has-been and wouldn’t get any recognition from a show about cannibalism.

A difference with Maslany is A) she got in with Sag and B) she was on a no-name network, not a network that’s looked down upon.

Could JLD be surprisingly snubbed? Maybe voters, as much as they love her, feel that she should withdraw herself from consideration after five wins a la Candice Bergen. Or the biggest surprise of all is that she voluntarily withdraws herself!

Tracee Ellis Ross is in the best position to do it at this point. Or wait for the real threat to enter the race in 2018: Emma Stone in Netflix’s Maniac.

I do think that Stone will be the one to dethrone Louis-Dreyfus.
