Or wait for the real threat to enter the race in 2018: Emma Stone in Netflix’s Maniac.

I do think that Stone will be the one to dethrone Louis-Dreyfus.

But is there any indication that this won’t be a limited series? I can’t imagine Stone will have agreed to be tied to a continuing series at this point in her career.

It has been referred to as a “comedy series”, which implies continuation, but you have a point.  If she wants to keep going though, she could set aside four months every couple of years for filming (or they could do six episodes per future season instead of ten and get it down to three months).

I did not know the premise before my Googling just now.  That is not what I expected and my confidence is less now.

I mean REALLY this should be a three-horse race between Gina Rodriguez, Rachel Bloom, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge but unfortunately any of those three even being nominated has lower odds than JLD appearing on a television screen and not winning an emmy.
